The space

Built in 1908, this vintage house is a very special furnished 2 bedroom, plus den/office with 1 bath. Nestled right smack in between Silverlake/ Echo Park, this is in a great location in the midst of everything. Urban Silverlake has become a famous neighborhood (Forbes's 'hippest neighborhood in America') due to its wonderful mix of artists and families. Walk everywhere!

Huge fenced in yard, and park car next to front porch behind rolling fence w/ security lights. There are many unique features such as custom French mahogany doors through out the home, living room and bedrooms have French doors that lead to a very private mahogany side deck (8 feet x 40 feet) which surrounds 80 year old yucca trees, which has been a wonderful place to entertain year round... a sweet Shangri-La to enjoy breakfast or just relax. Dining room is bright with French windows, and wainscoting, with dining table for six people, built in bar, and a window seat. Retro-kitchen is fully loaded/ stocked kitchen which has vintage stove, dishwasher, butcher block coffee grinder, and coffee/ tea maker. Mud room off kitchen has washer, dryer, and fridge with back door entrance. The front porch has a nice view of palm lined street....that's a great place to have a cup-of-joe! The bedrooms each have queen beds and ceiling fans with French doors that lead to side deck. Hard wood flooring throughout, except for office/den which has carpet. It is currently being used as an office with a day bed but a cot can be placed in there for an additional guest. A/C units in both the living room and office. High Def TV, with Apple TV and bluetooth sound bar. High speed wifi avail in the house. Bathroom is located between both bedrooms, with a door from each bedroom into bathroom which includes bath/ shower combo in a vintage green. One of the best things about the house is that you really feel like you've left the city, even though you are walking distance to great food/cafes/yoga, and all the eclectic options surrounding the neighborhood, a 15-20 minute walk to the Silverlake Reservoir where there is a great dog park or to Echo Park Lake for a paddle boat ride or a Friday night walk through the farmer's market. No need to get in a car to take an early morning yoga class at Urth or Bar Method (5 min), and then stroll to Silverlake Juice or Moon Juice afterwards. Want to have a drink without worrying about driving, you can hit or Los Globos, Hungry Crow in Silverlake or head towards Echo Park ( 12 minute walk) and check out The Echo, Elf Vegan Cafe. Mohawk Bend or House of Intuition for a sound bath or spiritual class.
The Metro bus stop is a few minutes to Sunset Blvd. you can take bus east for Metro Station (direct) or take it west and end up on Pacific Coast Highway at Santa Monica Beach or The Lake Shrine (Yoganandya Center).

Nightly rate $265, exit clean fee of $120. There is a security deposit and pet fee if traveling with a dog. Monthly rate gets discounted to 145 per night which is a steal for this lovely home, this includes all utilities and gardener costs.Price is firm.

Tnah was by far the best hostess I've ever had! Her house was eclectic and absolutely perfect for my group and I. The house is in the perfect location. She made sure I knew what was around me and was very knowledgable in every aspect of my stay.

Can I give it ten stars? I would if I could. We loved it. This is an AWESOME house -- a perfectly charming bungalow, airy, well-located, extremely comfortable. My husband and I stayed here for a week while we were moving my daughter out of her Pomona college dorm. We also have a son and other friends who live in Silverlake and Echo Park and the house was fantastic for entertaining small groups, eating inside at the large dining table or relaxing on the deck outside. In fact, every morning we had coffee on the private and shady deck and every evening we spent some time outside on the porch or deck as well. The kitchen and bath were well stocked with everything needed or might need, from pots and pans to skin lotion and shampoo. Tnah and Mario were generous and thoughtful enough to provide coffee, bread, fruit and other goodies for our arrival. We had a rental car and being able to pull up and park in the driveway within the gated yard was extremely convenient. We took walks on many days in the quiet, hilly neighborhood, over to Echo Park, to neighborhood restaurants and vintage clothing stores or coffee shops. Several options for excellent takeout food are almost literally around the corner. After a day at L.A. museums or on campus, we looked FORWARD to returning to relax at the house. (My daughter was THRILLED there was a washer and dryer in the house!) This is not a touristy part of L.A.. It's where locals live and relax. By the end of the week, we felt like we were part of the neighborhood and knew it well. Tnah made everything about the stay easy and was unfailingly polite in all our transactions. Thank you Tnah and Mario!

Response from Tnah And Mario:
Margaret, I seemed to leave a review with an added note which does not pertain to you and I am unable to correct it. You did not travel with a dog,but you did stay in our home with your family and left it so clean I was not sure anyone had been there! LOL I am so happy you enjoyed our home and felt relaxed and at home. We would love to host you back anytime.

We had a wonderful month staying at Tnah and Mario's house in Silver Lake/Echo Park! The house itself is charming and adorable, and was just the right size for my family (two adults, a baby, and a dog, with the occasional visit from another friend or family member). The house is beautifully appointed -- with fun colors, bright prints, and cool photographs throughout. It makes the house feel super warm and bright. We also loved the small front/side yard area -- it was a good size lawn for playing with our dog, and we spent a lot of time on the front porch watching people go by on the street. Has a couple of amazing tall palm trees too so it really has that LA feel. The location is ideal if you are wanting to stay in Silver Lake/Echo Park. It is basically right in the middle of the two neighborhoods, and easy to walk to a lot of good restaurants and shops on Sunset, or drive a little farther to other spots. We also walked to Echo Park Lake many times - a fast walk to a cute and serene little park. It's a very fast drive (or a longer walk) also to the Silver Lake Reservoir. The neighborhood is cute, friendly, and safe, and we spent a few afternoons just walking around looking at all the cool cottages and their gardens. Tnah and Mario seem to have anticipated everything in terms of things guests might need while staying there. It has all the things you might want to use while you are there (in the kitchen, bathroom, extra linens, etc.). In general, the house is stocked as though someone lives there for real, but without feeling like you are living with someone else's stuff (if that makes sense). Much of the stuff (like linens, plates, etc.) also high quality so you don't feel like you are having to make with crappy, cheapo "vacation rental" stuff. Tnah and Mario were delightful and thoughtful hosts. Tnah also went above and beyond to accommodate our family specifically. We brought our newborn baby, and Tnah provided a little bassinet for him to sleep in, and left a basket of goodies that were specially picked out for a new mom and baby. So sweet! They were also very responsive with the one or two very small issues we had. Tnah stopped by the property a couple of times to check the mail, etc., and was always very respectful of our space and time when doing so. I highly recommend staying at this cottage, particularly if you are a small family, a couple, or a single person. Just perfect!

My husband Mario and I like to collaborate on all our ventures~yes, we can't be bound by the 9-5 sort of living while raising our four sons. We roast our own organic coffee beans and hope that one day our sons will bloom this business- Belli Fratelli Roasters, which means good brothers in Italian! We take pictures and do photography as Bella Faccia Foto. We do everything with love and full creative force, not bound by many limitations really. When traveling we regard your home as if it were our own. If you plan to stay on our property in one of our homes, there is nothing you will lack for, because we have thought of your every need. We always greet our guests with a care package as an extension of our deep hospitality. We are the Di Donato family and look forward to crossing paths with you.
