Edwardian 2 storeyed villa set in beautiful private garden.

The space

Our home borders on Pukekura Park, is a 10 to 15 minute walk to the city centre, coastal walkway, Govett Brewster Art Gallery, Library and Museum complex.

Guest access

Guests can use the swimming pool during the season. We are keen cyclists and have a range of bikes that could be used by guests if wanted.

Interaction with guests

We have hosted many times, through the Wwoofing and Warmshower sites, so are knowledgeable about what the district has to offer, and are very willing to assist with any queries and suggestions of what to do in the area.

Other things to note

Our home is an old house (1905) and is best for guests wanting a more interesting atmosphere to stay in. We have pets, 2 cats and 1 dog, so our home is not really suited to people with allergies to animals. Bathrooms are shared and there are no ensuite bathrooms. Kitchen is available, but also shared. Continental breakfast provided. Both bedrooms have a double bed in each room, and are suitable for couples. If you are two single people wanting a room each, you will have to book the two rooms, and it seems the best way to do this is to pretend there is a 3rd person and book them in at $30.
Check in is after 3pm, however you can arrive earlier by arrangement.
We look forward to meeting you.

Diana and Rhys are so welcoming that we were treated not as welcomed guests but as old friends being welcomed home. Nothing at all was too much trouble. The house is amazing; interesting and colourful, vibrant but peaceful. If you want run-of-the-mill then don't stay here. If you want a home with warmth and wit then this house is for you. It was definately for us. I will count myself lucky if I ever get to stay again. Thankyou ☺

Diana and Rhys's beautiful old home is full of character. Set on the edge of Pukekura Park, it's easy to stroll through the park or walk to town. The bedrooms are most attractive - the larger one sun-filled in the morning, the other looking straight into nikau palms and the air filled with tui song. We were made to feel like family, not guests, as we chatted on the deck over a glass of wine, devoured freshly-made bread in the kitchen, and got to know the assortment of family pets. We returned home feeling that we'd learned so much more about the Taranaki area, and made new friends as well.

What a priveledge staying in such a beautiful elegant old home, with exceptional hospitality and friendship. I got to walk in the lovely adjoining gardens with Diana and her dogs Polly and Gerald, and we had great conversations with Rhys in the evening and over breakfast. A real gem in all aspects, - hosts, location and of course bedroom, which had lovely linen and views. We would definitely recommend this Airbnb.

We had a great time with Diana and Rhys. They took us in like old friends. What an interesting old villa they live in, full of character and items they brought back from their many travels. Loved the colourful rooms. Perfectly situated right next to most beautiful Pukekura Park. A peaceful inner city oasis with a friendly atmosphere. Will definitely visit again. Heina and Eva

Friendly welcome and we loved the friendly animals! This was our first air b'n'b experience in New Zealand (we are retired New Zealanders). We had expected to be shown everything, they had expected us to ask, so there was a communication break-down, partly due to our ignorance. Read all the +More statements for detailed clarification.
