This modern retreat/spa is walking distance to the Metro Gold Line (via a secret staircase). You have your own private entrance, and abundant outdoor space. 1 Metro stop to Highland Park/Figueroa shops/restaurants/bars. 9 mins to DTLA, Arts District and Little Tokyo stop. Beautiful view of the historic Southwest Museum, and walkable to the Self Realization Center. You’ll love the privacy, abundant trees, and clean air. Good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers who like to relax.

The space

Enter down a private stone path to the bottom level of our 1964 MCM home. Your own private level has the outdoor space and views that make Mount Washington a truly enchanting retreat. No shared walls. Enjoy a steam in the large walk-in steam shower, or a long soak in the custom stone tub. The sliding door opens wide to give you the true California indoor/outdoor living feel.

The best part about this listing is our location - close to all the hip east side things. You can walk down the secret staircase directly to the Southwest Museum stop on the Metro Gold Line. You are 1 stop away from Highland Park (Figueroa corridor) with yoga, bowling, bakeries, restaurants, bars and more. Alternatively, you can take the Gold Line to Chinatown, or to Downtown Los Angeles Arts District/Little Tokyo - only a 10 min ride! If you like new/hip/artsy/foodie areas - you will love the east side! Please feel free to ask us for any information or suggestions.

Guest access

Private entrance. The key is on a lock box so you can come and go as you please. Plenty of street parking on a wide street - rare for Mt Washington. Private floor and deck, with use of the yard during your stay.

Interaction with guests

My husband and I are glad to give you information. Whether you are visiting for work or pleasure, we can tailor suggestions to your personal needs. We have great ideas for restaurants, outdoor activities, entertainment and more. We have lived all over Los Angeles, so we know other neighborhoods beyond our own. We truly respect your privacy, and ours. If you feel comfortable with the area and do not need suggestions, that is fine too! We live upstairs, so we are accessible, but you will likely not even see us.

Other things to note

The curb is high on our street, so please be careful parking - we don't want you to scuff your car!

This place is very special. Its secluded from the city, making it a perfekt place to relax and charge up while exploring the city. I really loved it.

This place is even better than the pictures. Steam room in the shower was epic and the outdoor patio is beautiful. I stayed with a friend for a music festival but this is the perfect getaway for a couple. Complete privacy. Such a special spot :)

Maria's apartment was absolutely wonderful! It's about the size of a hotel room -- a bit bigger, counting the porch -- but much more secluded and personalized. Everything advertised is accurate. The bed is soft, the space is bright. The space is stylish and comfortable, and there are seemingly endless ways to luxuriously bathe, which turned out to be great since the temperature went above 100 during our stay (disclaimer: the temperature of the state was not within the host's control). That said, even though the temperature got high during the day, the place stayed pretty cool when we got back at night. The view of the hills was even lovelier than it is in the pictures. Communication was great, parking was no problem at all, and the entire stay went as smoothly as can be. In addition, Maria left a full binder of tips and recommendations for the area in the apartment, which was a really lovely, much appreciated touch. We'd definitely stay again!

My wife and i stayed here for a week for our honeymoon. Upon arrival Maria had a bottle of champagne waiting for us with a Congrats card ( was a lovely thought). Maria was a great host super responsive and gave great advice on shopping locations, she checked in with us to see how we were going and if we needed anything. The room was cosy, smelt nice & had a great view. We thoroughly enjoyed the bath and the sauna, only feedback we have is a tv in this room would make this place perfect but wasnt a huge deal not having one.

The place is just awesome. Considering the fact that we came here after five-day-trip around deserts and canyons - it seemed literally like an oasis. It is located in a very silent and clean neighbourhood. All around trees, palms and plants of all kind. Nothing can disturb you but birds. I think it is a very unusual place for Los Angeles. Hidden gems Very nice and cosy. Maria and Miles were awesome hosts, very polite and compassionate. In there we had pretty much everything we need and more. There is even a kettle (which is a giant luck for tea lovers). The shower and a bath are just wow. The bed is comfortable. And the balcony is the best place for breakfast. Overall, when we are back in LA - we know where to stay :)
