Our cozy family home is located on a quiet, tree-lined street in the heart of SE Portland, near great food and shops, between Hawthorne Blvd. and Division St.
A few of our favorite local spots (all within minutes of the house by foot, bike, or bus): Junior's Cafe, Teote Areperia, Upper Left Coffee Roasters, Grand Central Bakery, Bagdad Theater, Powell's on Hawthorne, Blue Star Donuts, the Waffle Window, OMSI, Distillery Row tours, Laurelhurst Park, and Mt. Tabor.
Our big, open living room is the perfect place to lounge with a good book, people watch out the giant windows, chat over coffee, beer or wine, or play with your kiddos (we have lots of toys if you need them!).
Our kitchen is well stocked, clean, and ready for cooking meals when you aren't out at one of the many delicious restaurants situated within minutes of our perfectly located SE home.
There are three floors here for you to enjoy, ensuring everyone gets the space and privacy they need.
About the sleeping spaces: We are a family of two parents and FOUR daughters! Three teenagers and one baby girl, so most of the bedrooms reflect this. The master bedroom is simple, but neat with an attached nursery separated by a (pink) curtain. The two main-level bedrooms (twin beds), as well as one of the lower-level rooms (full mattress on the floor where she likes it), are inhabited by teen girls. Think pastel colors, bean bags, and posters on walls. The remaining sleeping space (lower level) is a full bed in our den where the only TV is located. This means that group TV sessions will require folks to cozy up on the bed with pillows and bring down the girls' bean bag chairs to sit in, which we love to do, but you know... that's not everyone's idea of the perfect cinema room. We aren't posting photos of the girls' rooms for privacy purposes, but please don't hesitate to ask further questions about the space!
All of our rooms and bathrooms are available for you to enjoy. We only ask you to respect our privacy by not accessing desk drawers, closets, medicine cabinets, clothing drawers, and garage.
Interaction with guests
We will be out of town during most guest stays, but will available by phone and email most of the time.
Other things to note
We are a quiet street amidst the bustle, so please respect this if you're enjoying the front or back yards. By all means, enjoy conversation and wine in the back yard at the picnic table or in the front lawn on a blanket (we always do), but please no smoking (cigarettes or pot) on the property.
Also, please remember that we can not allow dogs to stay or visit and that check in is between the hours of 3 and 10pm unless other arrangements have been made with us personally. Unfortunately, we have had some guests violate these rules, so we repeat ourselves in our profile a bit regarding these issues.
Hi there! We hope that you will make yourself at home in our place so that you can truly experience what it's like to live in this great city.
Here is a little info regarding details of our home and logistics of your stay:
We ask that you respect our home by cleaning up after any spills, respecting our private spaces (closets, drawers, etc.), being friendly to our neighbors while you're here, and refraining from bringing your pet or inviting other pets over during your stay. We LOVE dogs, but we can not allow them here when we are not. We have had guests not abide by this request and it was a real bummer.
Because this is our home where we live full time, you will find a well stocked kitchen! We invite you to cook meals and help yourself to any spices, oils, and condiments, but please refrain from eating any food you may find in the cupboards and refrigerator.
There is a nursery attached to the master bedroom upstairs with a toddler bed and reading nook. It is separated by a curtain, which you may simply close if you do not need baby accommodations. We also have a lot of baby toys in the main living space should you want them! If not, just let us know and we will tuck them away to provide you with a more mature ambiance.
Most often, we will not be here to meet you personally and will communicate details of check in/out and deal with any questions via phone and email. Please, please, please be a good communicator.
We ask that you do not light fires in the fireplace or in the fire pit in the back yard for safety reasons.
To help you take advantage of what our bustling neighborhood has to offer, we will leave a list of our favorite things to do and places to eat on the dining room table. We will also leave a guide that walks you through how to use the access the internet and use the cable in the den when you want to hunker down and rest. We have delicious take out restaurant options nearby!
