Kahutara PurePod is a secluded, off-grid glass cabin created for privacy and immersion in the natural surroundings. Set in Kaikōura, this adults-only retreat offers a calm, restorative escape, with wide-reaching views across mountains, farmland, and native landscapes from its thoughtfully designed glass space. Its low-impact design combines sustainability with comfort, delivering a refined eco-luxury stay.
The space
Perched above the Kahutara River, the cabin looks out toward the Seaward Kaikōura Range. The land is gradually regenerating into native bush, with kānuka, wetlands, and thriving ecosystems attracting birdlife such as South Island robins. The approach follows quiet rural roads, finishing with a short walk through bush and farmland that eases guests into the setting. As night falls, the remote location reveals uninterrupted dark skies ideal for stargazing. With no neighbouring accommodation, it’s a tranquil setting for couples seeking stillness, birdsong, and expansive mountain views.
The Kaikōura region offers a wide array of exciting activities for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. From the Kahutara PurePod, you can easily explore Kaikōura’s famous whale watching tours, swim with dolphins, or take a kayaking adventure along the coastline, where you can spot seals lounging near the Seal Colony. For those who love the outdoors, Kaikōura provides fantastic hiking and biking trails with stunning coastal and mountain views. But for the ultimate thrill-meets-tranquillity combo, check out our EcoZip and PurePods package. Start with a 3.5-hour EcoZip adventure, including a 4×4 farm expedition, waterfalls, and ziplines with jaw-dropping mountain-to-sea views, then unwind in total seclusion at the Kahutara PurePod.
