There is a Danish concept called "hygge", which means a kind of coziness, a warmth, something that is nourishing to the soul. It's fitting that that word came to my mind, given that Karin is a native of Denmark. The quality of hygge is how I experienced Karin and her home. She was so welcoming and easy going. I actually became ill with a migraine when I was there, and she was very care taking and lovely with me. I loved the room I stayed in and particularly the bed. When I commented upon how wonderful the bedding was, she told me that the duvet and sheets were all cotton and were from Denmark. They felt different than American bedding. There was something so fresh, cool and crisp about them, which was particularly valuable to me since I was laying in bed with a migraine. Karin was a most generous and flexible hostess, and I cannot recommend staying in her home highly enough.

Response from Karin:
Thank you Judy, there is that Danish word again. It was indeed "hyggelig" to have you here and hope you'll be back some time when you can enjoy Vermont better. Karin

We spent a wonderful time at Karin's house. She made us feel very comfortable and shared her passions. The entire house is an art gallery. I wish I could have stayed longer!

If you're looking for a genuine Vermont experience with a kind and interesting host, this is the spot for you. Karin had a great chat with us while we enjoyed a tea together and was a superb host. Her house was pristine and had a multitude of character. The location is ideal, located just outside of downtown Montpelier. Thanks again Karin for a wonderful stay!

Karin is a wonderful host. Was very accommodating, great communication through all my travel troubles, and enjoyed our talk in the morning. I liked seeing her work a bit while chatting. Always have been curious about stained glass work and now I've gotten to see what the process looks like, so that was super fun. Would definitely stay with Karin again if ever I go back to that side of the woods...

Everything was good. Karin is a warm and welcoming host. Spent only one night, the Sunday, but would certainly return for a while weekend should I be again in the Montpelier area.

Karin was an absolutely lovely host! Her home is cheery and welcoming and her communication was fantastic and very accommodating. We enjoyed tea together outside and clearly could have kept talking all day! I will certainly stay again when I'm next in the area!

Thanks, Evelyn, for your kind words. It'll be nice to see you again next time you plan a wedding in this area. We'll have tea on the patio again then.

I am SO glad I chose to stay here! Karin has a colorful, artsy, historical home in a great location within walking distance from town. The room is comfy, clean, bright and cheery with crisp, 100%cotton sheets on a good mattress. No problems with wifi or cell reception, it's a quiet and peaceful place to sleep. What I really loved most, was the fact that Karin is a genuinely kind and caring person who goes out of her way to make sure everything goes smoothly during your stay! I was made to feel so welcome, safe, and comfortable and enjoyed watching her work in her stained glass studio and in her kitchen, baking her famous Danish family recipient for sourdough rye seed bread-so yummy! I highly recommend staying in Karin's affordable, artsy, down to earth home.

Thanks Annie, We did have fun, didn't we. It'll be great to see you here again, but should I ever make it to Oregon i WILL look you up. Your stories about that town make me want to go there even more than I already want to. Karin

Early 60s, clean, active, friendly, have two cats, love my garden, love books, movies, music, visiting with interesting folks. During the day I work for a non-profit disability rights organization. In the evenings I bake bread and make stained glass. After all, it is customary for many Vermonters to have more that one job. I am sensitive to chemicals, smoke and many scents and ask that you not use perfumes or aftershave while staying here.
