Leaf peepers can enjoy a luxurious stay at One Vanderbilt Lane. Very close to the Culinary Institute of America, Walkway Over The Hudson, FDR Home and Library, Vanderbilt Mansion, Rhinebeck, Dutchess County Fairgrounds, Marist, Vassar and Bard.

A lovely, historic home, formerly part of the Vanderbilt Estate, a 19th century Gilded Age Mansion, in scenic Hyde Park,. When FDR was in town the secret service would sleep in this house. This is documented in the archives in the Roosevelt Library.

The space

One Vanderbilt Lane is located very close to the Culinary Institute of America (CIA), Vanderbilt Mansion and FDR Home and Library. It is next to St. James Church where FDR was baptized and where his funeral service was held. There are notable, historic figures buried in the cemetery in back of the church. Vanderbilt Lane is a National Historic site. The former Vanderbilt stables, blacksmith house, the creamery, a carriage house and farm workers residence are located on this street. One Vanderbilt Lane sits on approximately 4 acres of land with a vast array of foliage and gardens, built-in swimming pool, as well as a pond. The main floor includes a two bedroom suite, each with a queen-size bed, dresser and closet space and 60 inch flat screen TV's. One bath is within the suite and another down the hall. Both fully stocked with bath towels, soap, shampoo and hair dryer. Upstairs, there are two additional bed rooms plus a half bath, both and have smaller flat screen TV's. The main bath for this suite is located next to the staircase. The steps were put in at the time that the house was built and are not as modern as the ones built today. A person with mobility issues may have a problem climbing them. The upstairs rooms are smaller then the ones downstairs and have slanted ceilings. A large living area with fireplace on the main floor is a great place to relax. Should you desire to have your meals at One Vanderbilt, there is a large kitchen with a breakfast nook as well as a separate dining room for use, and a screened in porch with seating for eating as well as an additional twin bed. In summer, a built in pool, out door barbecue and dining/lounge patio area are available. It's a great place to escape and get away from the stresses of life!

Guest access

Our home is comprised of two sections. Guests will have access to the main part of the house including bedroom suites - located on the main and upper floors, bathrooms, living room, dining room and kitchen/breakfast nook. There is parking for 3 cars in the rear of the house. An outdoor pool, barbecue and dining area are open and available during summer. There is a desk in every bedroom as well as a multi power plug with a phone charger on it.

My sister and I reside in a section of the house that is attached, but separate from the private areas guests will reside in during their stay.

We had an amazing weekend at Kathy's house! The pictures of the house and the surrounding area really don't do it justice - it's just beautiful and so well maintained. Kathy could not have been a more welcoming and helpful host. We were so happy with our experience and would definitely come back again!

This is a beautiful and comfortable house with gorgeous patio, pond, and pool. Carefully prepared with good kitchen supplies. Kathy is a very friendly and accommodating host, helping me with extra sheets for additional guests. I highly recommend it. On a busy road, traffic noise if anyone is sensitive to that.

We had an absolutely amazing weekend in Kathy's home! The house was beautiful, spacious, extremely clean, and very well stocked with anything we might need (such as plenty of towels, paper goods, food supplies, and a fully stocked kitchen!). The grounds were beautiful as well - we spent most of our time outdoors, either grilling and relaxing on the patio overlooking the pond, or swimming in the large pool. Kathy was wonderful to deal, and happily accommodated our requests. Would love to come back here again!

We had a great time her! Kathy was very generous with us, providing food for breakfast, offering to cook for us, and being flexible with our check out time. House is directly across from Vanderbilt mansion. The pool was great, plenty of room in the house, kitchen well equipped. Hope we can come back again next year!

Staying with Kathy and Pegeen was absolutely wonderful! The house was beautiful, clean, nicely decorated, roomy. They provided such nice touches as a lovely bowl of wonderful fruit, cheese and crackers, great breakfast. The grounds were absolutely beautiful, and a wonderful abundance of wildlife and birds were present. Beautiful pond and pool. Great location, right across the road from the Vanderbilt Mansion. And they were both very knowledgeable about the area and history, and were eager to be helpful. Made us dinner reservations, helped us figure out our plans. So wonderful.

We had such a wonderful time! Our hosts were on hand when we arrived to make sure we had everything we needed. The house is large and beautifully decorated, and the grounds are park like with gracious outdoor seating. Plenty of places for gathering in and out of the house. My favorite place was sitting by the pond under the beautiful trees! A lovely continental breakfast was provided with a tray of fresh fruit! We look forward to returning to Vanderbilt Lane, and highly recommend this accommodation.
