Spacious and secluded, nestled in the woods. Hardwood floors, woodland views throughout the house, pool table, piano, large back deck w/bbqs and outdoor seating, gardens, fruit trees and chickens. Hiking, ocean & the bay within minutes.

The space

This three story house is perfect for a romantic get away or as a gathering space for family or group retreats. Spacious and beautiful in the middle of nature, it is located one mile from Pt. Reyes Station and Inverness in West Marin. Within easy reach of everything the San Francisco Bay Area has to offer, you can walk the nearby beaches and trails, enjoy the many great restaurants, or maybe find where Sir Francis Drake hid some of his treasure.

There is room enough to comfortably sleep 16 but we have accommodated as many as 20 people. The main kitchen seats 6 in the breakfast nook and the dining table in the main room seats 10. We keep extra chairs handy as well. The house is surrounded by national park and has a large deck with ample seating and two grills, two balconies, a pool table, piano, hardwood floors in every room, woodland views from every window, gardens, a variety of fruit trees, and chickens out back. Radiant heating warms the bathrooms and kitchen, very cozy on chill winter mornings.

Sleeping arrangements
There are 2 bedrooms, 2 suites, and the TV room may also be used as a private bedroom with closing doors and a fold-out couch. The entertainment room also has a fold-out couch and the two suites each have a fold-out couch and space enough for a comfortable air mattress, which we have plenty of. That totals 4 beds, 4 fold-out couches and space for 2 (or more) comfortable air beds, all of which are Queen.

Cleanliness
We clean all contact surfaces in the house including all counter tops, table tops, door knobs, cabinet and drawer knobs, railings, chairs, table tops, window sills. We wash all linens including towels, sheets, pillow cases, the bedspreads and table cloths. We clean the bathrooms and all floors. We also put all decorative pillows through the dryer on high.

I designed and engineered this home, incorporating antique chandeliers, molding, and antique glass and doors from estate auctions. I did most of the stonework around the house, handpicking about 120 yards of stone from the quarry at Sears Point. We hope you enjoy the home we have built- we’re here to ensure your stay is everything you hoped it would be and more.

If you are considering an event such as a family get together, a celebration, or a seminar we can accommodate you. Long term stays may also be accommodated. Please contact us for pricing.

If you have children please inquire.

The house is at the end of a secluded private driveway. Our neighbors value the peace and quiet in this beautiful woodland. The silence here is wonderful. Please after 10pm no loud music or loud conversations especially if you are a large group. Closing doors and windows does make a difference in controlling noise.
If your group is looking forward to unrestrained partying with loud music please find a more fitting venue.

We ask that you sign a rental agreement upon checking in.

Please no smoking, no candles except birthday cake candles, and no fires inside or outside. The house has sprinklers which saves lives but can do as much monetary damage as a fire.

We are on a septic system here. Please do not put anything in the toilets or the sinks that is not biodegradable. No sanitary napkins etc.

We are sorry but we can not allow any pets or assistance animals-my wife is allergic.
Please do not drag furniture around on the hardwood floors. If you need to move anything let us know and we will be glad to do it for you.

If you find any problem or your party inadvertently causes any damage please let me know as soon as possible so it can be fixed and your stay can be as enjoyable as possible.

If you need any assistance with anything do not hesitate to ask. We do not mind in the least. We're here to ensure your stay is everything you hoped it would be and more.

Very cool, large house in a great location. There is so much to do in the area a few days was not enough time. Plenty of room, two kitchens, and the pool table got used every day. Parking is a little tight, and make sure to read the house rules and rental agreement ahead of time.

Our group of 15 filled the house. We loved having the piano and the pool table for evening entertainment. Its a great location, secluded and private but near town, beaches, hiking and parks. There were plenty of everything we needed, except a dishwasher. The kids especially liked watching the chickens in the coop. There aren't many options for a large group of people and we were very lucky to find this one. Sherb is a wonderful host and even brought us a tasty dessert one night. The house is older but maintained. It has lots of charm, nooks and crannies throughout the 3 floors. Our extended family had a very nice stay there.

Their spacious home is located in a tranquil secluded spot. We had a warm welcome with Sherb walking us through. It took longer than anticipated because their place is like a three story Winchester Mystery house, filled with an eclectic collection of art and antiques that beg for further review. There is an incredible amount of space, privacy if you want it but great rooms if you're after shared space. It is a short hop to Point Reyes Station or Olema. Nice places to visit and eat out if you like but with two huge kitchens in the house we had a fantastic time preparing and sharing big meals there. The house is really well appointed with everything you'll need for a comfortable stay. Huge master suite on the 3rd floor with generous walk-in shower and huge soaker tub, couches all over the house you name it, it's all there...piano, pool table. We had just finished a huge Sunday dinner when a knock came at the door with Sherb bringing a fresh-from-the oven Cassava pudding / cake that Maricel had thoughtfully prepared. A nice touch. Everyone came away feeling it was one of the most relaxing gatherings we've ever had. Thanks for a chance to recharge! One small thing to think about in advance... GPS / cell phone reception very sketchy, make a hard copy print of vital info before you hit the road. You may learn some old fashioned navigational skills!

Overall, the house satisfactorily served as a gathering place for the nine of us for a family gathering. In many ways, the eclectic composition. decor, and design of the house contributed the story of our weekend. We cooked all three nights at the house for the nine of us (kitchen well-stocked). Clean. Teenage granddaughter learned to play pool, I lost at poker to the other grandkids. We all had comfy beds to retreat to at the end of a long, adventurous day. Plenty of hot water. Just seems that the details of the bones of the house are ignored - poor lighting (CF spiral fluorescent in antique fixtures) with an occasional missing glass shade, sluggish plumbing in the downstairs bathrooms, poor internet service, left-over food in frig and kitchen garbage can on arrival, loose knobs/handles, and a beautiful deck but worn seating with no cushions. Again, we made the most of it, and had a great time. When asked by the owner during our stay, I was not wanting to take 30 min of my vacation time to make of list of "to do" items for repair or improvements. I've done that is a separate message today. West Marin is one of my favorite places on this earth. Grateful to have had another three days there.

Response from Sherb & Maricel:
I did not ask her to spend 30 minutes to critique our house. We always ask guests as they are LEAVING - is there is anything we could improve? I do not know how she conjured up a demand for a 30 minute fixit list? Many of the doors are over a hundred years old and it is difficult to find replacement parts so some of the handles are loose. This was explained. All the doors function as they are supposed to. The only florescent bulbs that fit are the spiral type. We have 130 light bulbs. If they were the old fashioned ones and they were all on they would use at least 7 kw per hour. The glass shades are antiques and guests have broken a few. I look constantly on line for replacements. The internet works fine. Guests watch movies all the time. Our internet service is above the basic level. Sluggish plumbing in one of the bathrooms is a result of putting something besides toilet paper down the toilet. The other bathroom is not temperamental and works fine. The refrigerator is thoroughly cleaned after every stay. There are NO leftovers left in the refrigerator. We have left opened jars of ketchup and relish and mustard in the door tray. It seems like a waste to throw out a jar that has one spoonful removed. If guests do not want it they do not have to use it, they can throw it out. The garbage cans were clean. Maybe another guest disposed of something? We have learned that you cannot please everyone. We have had several guests who must find fault somewhere. Compare this review with our other reviews.

Sherb and Maricel were wonderful hosts. This house is gorgeous, clean, and unique - the perfect place to make some amazing memories. We slept 7 fairly comfortably and were able to get to all the best places in Pt. Reyes and Inverness within minutes. We only had a few meals in town during our stay, so we used the kitchen quite a bit. They had everything we needed to cook large meals for our group - both by oven and stove. We would absolutely recommend this home and would love to stay here again!

This is a very large house in a great location with fruit trees/shrubs. There is access to hiking trails and beaches are close by. The hosts were caring and accommodating. What really tipped the scale was that the kids loved the house. They had a fantastic time playing in and around the house. Kitchen is adequate but the addition of a dishwasher would make life with large groups a bit easier (there used to be one). We had a good time and would be happy to return.

Response from Sherb & Maricel:
Thank you Stefan. It was enjoyable to see how thrilled the kids were. We have been through 2 new dishwashers but we are looking at reviews to find a dependable one. Presently we supply disposable cups and plates to make life easier for large groups.

Our family had so much fun with this special house While not "fancy" it was loaded with color, interesting tidbits abounding and plenty of exploring just inside the house with the antiques and collectibles. Pool table, piano, bbq and garden were fun. To explore the Pt Reyes area and return to "home" was perfect.
