After reading Alfonso's response, I am highly alarmed with exaggerated comments and there has never been an iss ue with tarantualas in the house. When I went to check on the rooms, I checked in the kitchen and there were pizza boxes left on the countertop as well as open trash in the wastebasket which attracts ants and, which I personally threw out. At check in, his family was told that they were responsible for cleaning up the house and throwing out their trash and placing it on the sidewalk to the left of the house. We informed him that you cannot leave food on the countertops in the heat of the Yucatan.
In addition, even though there is a No Smoking Policy in the house, there were cigarette ashes left around the house and we will have to repaint in the Master Bedroom to deal with the smoke odor. Before he arrived he wanted a certain temperature in the outside swimming pool and he was told the temperature is in the 90's in Merida and the water was warm. Upon their arrival, they were confused as to the address and were knocking on the door of the neighboring house - so their "arrival" issue was their issue. I was in the house and personally went outside and saw them at the neighboring house.
Not once did Alfonso thank us for all the extra work we performed. The bedrooms had suitcases all strewen around the floor and the area was very unkempt and disorderly. In the kitchen area there are 3 patio doors that open to the children's Swing Play Room and one of them is off the track and will have to be repaired which will incur an additional cost for us. We also noticed that the front bathroom toilet was not working which indicated they had done some damage. On Saturday, he indicated that they were vacating the property and he asked for a refund. At the time we indicated that there might be a possibility, but considering the additional painting costs and Patio Door issue, I feel that a refund would be unreasonable.
I would not recommend Alfonso as a renter and would encourage him to seek out a Five Star Hotel and complain to them and reconsider his participation in AirBnB. Upon arrival, his wife told me that they were new to AirBnB and did not know the rules and perhaps they should be disallowed their participation, as AirBnB is more of a Community Organization that caters to a certain type of people who are friendly, and caring particiants. Again, I would not recommend Alfonso as a renter.
