I have to say that Jim was quite merveilleux!! He went far beyond what a host is required to do. We had lovely sharing and exchanging of favorite pieces of opera, (and he even sang a few bars), and discussions on a variety of other interesting topics. He also explained parts of …

Staying at Jim’s was absolutely worth it. He is an intelligent individual who can carry on conversations about anything. He is a professional cook, so make sure you try his food sometime. His breakfast is the perfect way to start any day. I highly recommend staying at Jim’s, if o…

Jim's house was awesome! and we loved him. The place was beautiful and the bedroom and bathrooms were as clean as could be. Jim was beyond hospitable, he went way out of his way to make sure we had a good, comfortable stay and were very well fed. He is an incredible chef and has …

Jim's home is out in the country. You could say Jim is a farmer himself. He makes his own soap and uses as much of what the earth provides for him as he can. He doesn't use his air conditioner because the evenings are cool even in the summer. So the windows are always open, as ar…

Response from Jim:
Hi I am sorry Mary was unhappy but it is clear one size does not fit all. Mary stayed for 27 hours (from Sat at 2 pm to Sun at 5 pm, making it a challenge for me to change the sheets and clean the room for the next renter. Common sense indicates that this is a bit of a stretch, eh? I do not like specific check-in or check-out times as I like to be flexible and not autocratic; this does not mean, though, that the hours are open ended. Few guests stay for 25 hours, especially when they have so many complaints. One size does not indeed fit all and I am sorry Mary was not satisfied. See the other reviews. House is also a working farm and the wind blows so there is dust no matter how often I vacuum and steam clean (which I had done.) YES I NEED A MAID. Hah. I did not turn on air conditioning because the weather was cool. I have a swamp cooler as well as an air conditioner but Mary did not indicate she was uncomfortable. I try to please my guests but sometimes cannot. One size obviously does not fit all and this is clearly not a place for Mary. I think her daughter, a resident doctor, had a wonderful time. I am reminded of the story of the 3 blind men and the elephant. Pool was available but few people want to swim in 65 degree water!! I do have access to an outdoor pool which was available. Guests chose not to use the hot tub. Sometimes, no matter what I try to do, I cannot fill the colander of desires. Less is more. I will check my descriptions to perhaps clarify some I will NOT lock doors as I choose not to live this way (one of the reasons I live in the country.) Every one's life style is different, eh?

Welcoming host, relaxing stay with lots of fascinating conversation. Jim's waffles and homemade kombucha are incredible. Location is fairly remote, but it is a very scenic drive. I would definitely stay here again if visiting Santa Fe.

Jim's place is a large home in the hills of Santa Fe with a beautiful view. It's about 25 minutes from the Santa Fe plaza and about 50 from Santa Fe ski. Jim is a free spirit who welcomes you with open arms and makes you feel at home. He loves to chat and joke. So if you like con…
