BETTYS BAY - very pretty and charming coastal cottage overlooking lake, natural beauty and laid-back living. 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, shower, open plan living area with double doors leading onto covered stoeps/verandahs front and rear, wonderful views of lake and mountains. 10-15 mins walk along fynbos fringed gravel roads to pristine beaches. Indigenous garden, porcupines, mongooses, dyker bucks (bambi!) and all sorts of birds live here, not to mention hoards of singing frogs! No mosquitoes! Safe swimming, surfing, kite boarding, hiking, sand boarding, river pools, mountain biking, world heritage nature reserve, amazing botanical gardens, penguin colony, village shops, a post office and petrol station - a couple of good fish restaurants and even a decent pizzeria!
Gravel roads, lots of bush, no street lights - the stars are amazing! Even the scientists at NASA are impressed by the night skies here!! Big skies, wonderful cloud formations and sunsets. 85 kms from Cape town, just over an hours drive along the N2 and Clarence Drive, one of the most beautiful classic mountain sea/mountain roads in the world. Its a stunning unknown and untouched spot away from it all. A wilderness area. Perfect for holidays or as a writing, painting and creative retreat.
