We just spent 2 fabulous weeks at The Nest. Pros: extremely private, great views day and night, close to Lunenburg and most of the South shore, full kitchen with great cookware. Carmella was a great host and thought of almost everything including bacon and eggs in the fridge when we arrived. Cons: only 1 shower, a bit worn compared to the photos but we would absolutely stay here again. Highly recommended.

Response from Carmella:
The second bathroom has a soaker tub with a hand held shower attachment to accommodate guests with small children or for guests who prefer baths.

Our family of four (parents with their two young adult sons) from Ottawa rented Carmella’s lovely “The Nest” waterfront house for eight days in late August to early September. It was our first experience with Airbnb and we had an excellent experience. First off, Carmella was very accessible and helped me through some technical difficulties which I was having in making my Airbnb reservation. She reached out as our arrival date approached to make arrangements for meeting us to walk us around her home. She was there waiting for us when our car pulled in. Carmella also checked in with us a couple of times during our stay to inquire if we needed anything and to let us know that we could contact her anytime if we had questions or required anything. The home, as the photos indicate, is very beautiful and it was also spotless and well equipped with everything we needed for our stay, as well as extras such as a few board and outdoor games and some firewood for the firepit that all of us very much enjoyed to roast marshmallows and hot dogs. The Adirondack chairs by the waterfront allowed us all to take advantage of some relaxing hours soaking in the sun, relaxing and watching the loons. Quite important to us all was that the beds were very comfortable (we have experienced some bad beds over the years of renting other summer homes, so the excellent beds came as quite a relief). The location was perfect in that it was a quiet and private waterfront point a short five minute drive from Lunenburg, and close to lovely Mahone Bay and Chester, where we shopped and ate dinner a few times, and to several beaches (including the picturesque Hirtle’s Beach), but also well situated to allow us to take leisurely day trips to Wolfville, the vineyards of the Annapolis Valley, Shelburne, the beautiful and secluded Kejimkujik Seaside Adjunct, Peggy's Cove and Halifax. We also loved being able to view the stars on a few of the nights that we were there, something that the city lights of Ottawa prevent us from doing. The first night we were there, as I entered the upstairs bathroom I was amazed to see the Big Dipper which just happened at that hour to be perfectly framed in the round window of the bathroom. It was quite incredible. I could go on and on about how happy we all were with our stay and how lucky we felt to have found and booked “The Nest”. It made for an amazing trip.

The Nest is a fantastic place to stay. It completely exceeded my expectations. It is well outfitted for a lovely, relaxing stay. It is visibly obvious The Nest is well looked after and inviting for all. If you are looking for a place to rest and relax, I definitely recommend Carmella's place.

This home is perfectly located near the sea, and within easy driving distance to Lunenburg, Mahone Bay, Bridgewater, LaHave River Ferry and Bakery, and south shore beaches. We loved the natural lit living space, the outside firepit and seating, shoreline and quiet. Carmella is a perfect host, and was entirely responsive to our needs. She even went out of her way to plan special surprises for our 5 year old. I grew up in Lunenburg County and have an intimate knowledge of the surrounding area, and I can recommend this property and host without a single reservation. It is perfectly situated.

My family and I had a wonderful experience at Carmella’s house. This was a great find and very deserving of five stars. Carmella herself was a wonderful host, welcoming us warmly upon our arrival with abundant information about the house itself and the surrounding area. She had a collection of brochures outlining activities, restaurants, galleries, shops, etc. in Lunenburg and area. The house was in a beautiful location on a tranquil bay with a large stone patio and a large fire pit surrounded by 6 yellow Adirondack chairs. It was roomy and entirely comfortable for the six of us. The house was very well-equipped. Carmella had thought of everything. We wanted for nothing when it came to dishware, cooking supplies and equipment, etc. Carmella made sure that we knew of parks and beaches, directing us to one sand beach on open ocean with crashing waves just a 10-minute drive away. Opportunities for hiking, biking, kayaking, eating, shopping were readily available nearby. We really appreciated Carmella’s responsiveness to any query we texted her; she normally texted back immediately. She also checked in via text a couple of times during our stay to ask if we needed anything and to pass on tips about special restaurants, lesser known beaches and other interesting activities in the area. We couldn’t have asked for a better host.
