This fabulous townhouse is close to the center of downtown, the new streetcar, & dozens of great restaurants & cafes.

12' ceilings of old-growth rough-sawn rafters in the front rooms date to 1888 or earlier. The mix of old plasters in the kitchen are a tapestry the Whitney or Getty would love, and above are planks from pre-1880 packing crates.

Just outside the bedroom is the gated & cloistered courtyard. A spiral stairs leads to the roof terrace & sunset views.

The space

Ochoa Court and its 9 townhouses are in the heart of the Barrio Libre National Historic District on the south side of downtown Tucson. Lodging cheaper and larger can be found lots of places, but massive old walls, high ceilings, and first-rate renovation make these adobes tops in character -- total non-generic.

Guest access

This townhouse is exclusively yours with its own entry and separate door to the central gated courtyard and roof terrace. The courtyard, its barbecue, the bocce ball set, and the roof terrace are common amenities for guests in the 8 adobes around the courtyard. The paved off-street parking has motion-sensor lighting at night and a parking stall for each unit.

Interaction with guests

Bobbie Jo and I live just one block away and are usually nearby. If you have any questions at any time, please let us know!

Other things to note

The wi-fi is best in the bedroom or courtyard, but the signal isn't as strong in the kitchen & dining area or the front room because of many thick adobe walls.

Great place! David was easy and quick to communicate with! We were able to check in a little earlier and the check out early in the morning was also very easy. The apartment was beautiful, clean and exactly as describe! walking distance to everything, yet very quiet!

Everything at David's place was as good as all the other reviews have stated. It's definitely not cookie-cutter, and I loved the architecture both of the apartment and the courtyard, etc... David was very easy to get in touch with, which helped me out a lot when I locked myself out, and he was there within a few minutes. I'll return for sure when I am back in Tucson.

My second stay in this beautiful adobe home and it was perfect. So close to everything downtown and yet very quiet. Looking forward to staying again in the future.

We really enjoyed learning the history of this building and the neighborhood. David and his wife have worked hard to capture some of that history. Many of the neighborhood residents are artists and walking provides a great opportunity to meet them personally!

What a hidden gem! This little house is in the heart of Barrio Viejo. If this is your first time in Tucson then you'll want to stay here. You have great access to downtown, amazing restaurants in walking distance, and you can hop on main streets like Broadway or Oracle or the Interstate and get to anywhere in town. The house itself is small but perfect. Very sweet courtyard and rooftop terrace. I cannot wait to return.
