CHECK OUT WOODSRETREAT FOR MORE PHOTOS, THIS IS WOODSRETREAT #2...Welcome to our home, tucked into the woods, built with the trees from the property, hewn into a post and beam structure by a local artisan, We have a glassed in stove settled into our fireplace, making it very cozy... Vermont style! Our home is light and bright and airy.

Your room is warm and bright. You have the sitting room too, to give you more space to stretch out in. We can always open up the sitting room couch to offer you another double bed for your additional person if you bring one. You have a shared bath, but we MAY set one bath aside for you, privately, if you let us know in advance. We have another room to book if you are a bigger party, "Woods Retreat". And "Yoga Nest" for the nimble. We can accommodate a party of 6, if need be, just ask.

We live a very active lifestyle here, and can help you find your way on any trails you wish to hike, bike or ski, We are 1 mile below the ski lifts on Mount Mansfield, and right on the x-c and mountain bike trails. We are at the base of the famed Smugglers Notch for leaf peeping, hiking the long trail, and road biking. At the bottom of our drive is the well known, local watering hole, The Matterhorn Restaurant and Bar. You never have to drive! It's all right here!

My son and I can orient you to town, and where all of you who love the arts can find professional theater, music, and oodles of art galleries. We can help you discern what restaurant would suit you.

There is the Mountain Road shuttle which has different schedules depending on the season, but ostensibly, you could bike or ski to our door, and have everything you need right here, and can even shuttle to town to eat and drink.... no need to ever drive! I'm an 8th generation Vermonter, with lots of info, tips and stories to share. Come be our guests!

This is a beautiful area in the ski areas of Vermont! The check-in process is simple and easy and the host had a separate small mattress available for an additional guest. We had our own living room area and bathroom dedicated to guests, so we didn't feel like we needed to share the common spaces of the family. Given the chance, I would definitely stay here again!

Jan has a beautiful spot. She was kind enough to make specific accommodations and allow an early check in. Easy access to shopping, dining, and hiking within the Stowe area!

Jan's place is amaizing. Being an 8th generation Vermonter, Jan is very knowledgeable on where to hike, bike, swim, eat, and everything in between. The place is very quiet and calm, perfect to disconnect from the busy city life. On a side note, the house is powered by 100% solar energy collected on site and the water is from a well. So rest assured that your carbon footprint will be kept to a minimum!

Nice and calm environement in the wood close to the ski hill, perfect also for a retreat. We would expect moore communication with the host for a family type B&B. Don't forget your camping stove and tea bags if you need hot water to complete the granola-coffee breakfast.

Jan was a great host. Towels were provided in our room which was great. Her home was exactly what I picture when I think of Vermont. Had a nice view of Stowe from our room. Was about 5 minute walk to the Matterhorn. Only only complaint, is we wish there curtains on the windows. We got up early to hit the slopes but if you want to sleep in, might be tough however privacy was not an issue as you are in the middle of the woods.

Traveled up to Stowe with my girlfriend to go skiing for the weekend. Jan's house is in a great location, the Matterhorn is at the base of the driveway and the mountain is only 3-4 mins down the road! The whole house was clean and there were a few other couples staying in Jan's other rooms. Overall great experience and excellent value!

I am an outdoor enthusiast, 8th generation Vermonter, who travels the world to make non-fiction books, mostly for kids, but have a few out for adults too! Live simply, consume less, share more, is something that resonates with me. I love the Vermont healthy, can-do attitude, and the way we are re-energizing agriculture nationally with the idea of eating local, and knowing where your food comes from.
