Your private apartment is a 10-min. walk to the famous Staten Island Ferry (free) to lower Manhattan and subway connections. Many restaurants and pubs are in our historic neighborhood of St. George. It's a short drive or bus to Snug Harbor Cultural Center. We have a friendly dog, but he will not be in your private space. An air mattress can be provided for children and a playground is nearby. Parking is available in our driveway; if you need a ride from the ferry we are happy to pick you up.

The space

Just outside your entrance is a private porch (see the photos), a small George Forman electric grill, and a large fenced-in backyard with a hammock for the warmer weather. Bonus amenities include a $10 MetroCard, 6-pack of locally-brewed Flagship beer, coffee/milk, and a fruit bowl.

Interaction with guests

We will be in the main part of the house and on-site for any issues or questions. We are happy to offer any suggestions or advice. While we will respect your privacy, we also know NYC and enjoy showing people around if that's what you would like.

An easy, quiet and well equipped place to stay with thoughtful extra touches. Manhattan only a ferry ride away, alternatively lots of options just on the doorstep. John is a generous and friendly host, we would return.

The studio apartment worked out great for my stay. The apartment is about as close to the NYC ferry as you can get. There are also plenty of restaurants within walking distance so bring your walking shoes! The area is safe and quiet and the back patio deck was a great surprise. The hosts provide all you could want to have a successful and enjoyable stay. There is even a full size washer and dryer available for use. If you want to visit NYC but escape the higher prices and get some quiet time, then this is your place. The ferry ride provides great views of the Statue of Liberty and Manhattan both coming and going too.

John and Liz made us feel very welcome. The accommodation and location exceeded our expectations. The accommodation was spacious, clean and equipped with laundry and cooking facilities which was most welcome. What we appreciated most was the length that John went to, to make us feel welcome and at home and fruit in the bowl and beer in the fridge was most appreciated as was the 10 dollar metro card! John also provided us with his personal knowledge of the city and gave us good tips on where to visit. In our opinion John and Liz were super hosts and would definitely be visiting again!

You might have a hard time leaving this Airbnb! It is a serious find. We absolutely loved our stay! John has thought of everything. There was a $10 metro card waiting for us, an umbrella, sunscreen, plenty of towels, drinks and snacks. It's obvious that these hosts really care about their guests.

Our stay in John's lovely place was even better than expected, and we expected a lot! It's just the perfect hideaway after busy Manhattan days but also very close to the Staten Island ferry and everything else you need. Fully recommended!

We loved John's homey studio! It was meticulously clean and carefully prepared for guests. The guide her provided about transportation and local restaurants, etc was very helpful. The location was perfect too. We drove to the Ferry and parked our car for $8 for the day, so that was a great option. John was wonderful to communicate with and very accommodating considering we had a very late arrival. I would definitely stay here over and over. Our only regret was that our stay was too short!
