The location is in a really lovely part of Cape Town on the slopes of Table Mountain with fantastic views of table bay. Beautiful views and a very comfortable home.

This was my first experience with an airbnb host and it was not a good one! I tried to solve my complaints with Karen but that, in the end, appeared impossible. It was an unpleasant experience for me and therefore I recommend you not to stay here to avoid a possible similar disappointment. I left after one night, when booked and paid for two. My request for a refund became an “on Karen’s terms” about the amount and “with an ok review about my experience” as a condition. I experienced the contact with Karen at moments very unpleasant. A few of my complaints. There was no jacuzzi as mentioned in the add, neither the note that the house is a cat’s home. Not that I dont like cats but for me the house was literally breathtaking and the cat and I both got a fright when we bumped into eachother in the livingroom. The house was full with personal stuff, to me it felt like I was introding in somebodies life. The fridge was packed with open used products and the freezer was completely stuffed and froozen. Both the two instable gardenchairs had screws dangerously sticking out. There is more to it, but not a magnificent view of the city. The first picture is one of the houses you look onto from the balcony. From the window upstairs you can see Lion’s head and the ocean very well. If you do want to give this place a second chance, then please be carefull with parking in the garage. I screwed up my bumpers even though I am an experienced driver. My own fault ofcourse, but to park in such a narrow garage was not easy for me. I want to advice you to leave your car in the streets, much safer.

Response from Karen:
Roger was my fourth guest to stay in my house. The other three loved it. Roger booked for two but strangely arrived without his female partner. I have a garage I have parked in for 15 years without incident. Roger seemed very nervous on his arrival and unfortunately failed to park his car correctly and scraped the side. I had a cleaner clean the house prior to his arrival. Being new to Air bnb I made a few mistakes which I have now corrected. 1. I failed to mention that its my own house that I rent out on weekends. 2.I failed to mention that there is a cat who occasionally visits. 3. The 2 patio chairs were slightly damaged. These have now been fixed. The view from the bedroom is a stunning panorama overlooking the city with the ocean in the distance. There is also a great view of Lion's Head from the patio. Roger got confused with Air bnb terminology. A hot tub is not a jacuzzi - it is a bath. His female friend arrived later and to my horror I discovered my clothes had been gone through and 2 brand new blouses went missing. Roger left a day early and demanded a full refund. His reaction was total overkill. I offered him a refund for the second day. I offered to transfer it 2 days after he left. Two weeks went by and then he asks for it in cash, wanting me to drop it off in a stranger's post box.I found this totally unacceptable. I suggested if he returns the items and give me and ok review as it is actually a nice house I likewise would hold back on his review. He didn't accept my suggestion and I am now claiming from Air bnb for the missing clothes. My only regret is I missed the deadline to review him and I fear future guests are not going to be aware of his appalling behavior. This is a lovely home. Please look at my other reviews and the lesson learned is I will have to be very careful vetting the guests who would like to stay.

This place is an absolute gem tucked away under Table Mountain, with magnificent views of the city. The house is comfortable and immediately felt like home to us. Lots of cosy nooks and spaces to hang out in. It is a great and very safe base for exploring the city, and the trails around Table Mountain and Lion's Head. Karen is a fabulous host. She went out of her way to make us feel welcome and happy, and was very easy to communicate with. In short, this townhouse offers great value for the money, has the most stunning views, and the host will make you feel right at home.
