Yamashita san's house is cozy and even better than what the photos have been showing! Even if we arrived late at night, he and his dog still welcomed us at the door. The house is very spacious and let us experience the local Japanese life.

We enjoyed our 2-night stay in this typical Japanese style home! There is a lot of space, it is all equiped, and very comfortable! Special kudos for the clear explanations in English! Everything is well maintained and organized. Only 3 tram stations away from downtown, very convenient location. A starbucks coffee is 2-min away by walking. Our host was welcoming and nice. We appreciated the beverages and snacks when we arrived late in the day. We hope to come back some day! Thank you!

Communication with Yugi is easy, as he speaks a bit of English and he answered my queries readily. Finding his house was also relatively easy. I navigated to a coffee factory establishment, which is diagonally opposite his place. A small public garden opposite also serves as a guide. When we asked about WIFI, he asked us to go to Starbucks at the street corner. However I was slightly taken back. I then checked his Airbnb listing, messaged him again (he stays next door) and showed him why we were surprised and later disappointed. He seemed apologetic. I also realised later that another guest had encountered the same issue and written it in the review. Well... The next morning, he messaged us about ordering a router online. OK then... True enough, it came during lunch time the following day. We stayed here 5N, so at least we got 3 days of WIFI. The house is quite big, but everything looks tired. The kitchen utensils and cutlery are slightly lacking, but good enough to cook simple meals. The last issue is the hot water bath. It can run out of hot water depending on usage, so for people who like to soak or if there are many guests, it could be a problem, as it was for us. Everything else is completely functional. The location is no issue to us because we had a rental car. It's just 15 minutes to the Sunday or Hirome market, and close to Godaisan Park.

Thank you for your advice. It's severe but useful for me. My mother was living in my guest house until 4 years ago. She passed away. It's certainly old. But I can't destroy it and rebuild yet now. But I try to repair it. It's my strong field because I'm an architect. And I always keep it clean carefully. But by your advice I'll make efforts for it more and more! I'm very happy that it's useful, comfortable and happy for my guests. I think it's useful for them even a little, and I started Airb&b there. I'm studying English now, but I'll study harder. Thank you. Good bye! by Yuji Yamashita

Kochi is a fun and interesting Japanese city, and this listing is an excellent place to stay. The house has a very functional western style kitchen, a hardwood floor sitting/family room, and two large tatami rooms. The total effect is fun and functional. However, it is important to remember that the hardwood and tatami floors require respect, and are "no shoe" areas. Wifi is available at the Starbucks short blocks away, 0800 to 2200 daily. It is also possible to rent a cell phone router from a nearby Docomo store to plug into your PC. The owner, Mr. Yamashita, is extremely helpful and thoughtful. His English is functional but limited, so communication will require patience and respect. Of course some knowledge of Japanese is a huge help.

Yuji's place was a lovely old style house with lots of rooms, plenty of cooking equipment and really beautiful chinaware. Yuji was a great host and his little dog was gorgeous.
