My place is newly renovated, super clean, sunny, and very cozy! It's a short train ride away from the most famous sight-seeing in the city! It is steps away from plenty of bars, restaurants, clubs, the UCB Improv Theater, The Nuyorican Poets Cafe, comedy clubs, and live music venues! I can walk everywhere when I want to go out at night. It's right near Thompkins Square Park and St. Mark's Street. It's the best authentic nightlife in the city! Easily accessible to public transportations.

The space

My apartment is much more open and spacious than other apartments in my neighborhood. It is newly renovated and always feels sunny and clean. There is space to do yoga in the morning and cook breakfast before you go on with your day! I have an amazing view of downtown Manhattan from the rooftop.

Guest access

You have full access to the kitchen, living area, bathroom, and rooftop!

Interaction with guests

I'd be happy to help guests by suggesting good places to eat, things to do and see in the city, and how to get to where they want to go on public transportation!

Maria’s place is a great home base for exploring the East Village and any incursions into Brooklyn. Clean, nice bed, great communication, and super welcoming hosts. Thanks Maria!

Didn't get the chance to meet Maria, but her place was very clean and I had a pleasant one night stay. Cozy, organized, and a great location.

Maria was a great host. I booked on the same day and arrived late due to unavoidable circumstances but Maria was awake to welcome and very gracious. Space is kept clean and modern. Comfortable room and very clean linens. Overall, I was very happy with my stay

Maria's spot was very clean and comfortable. By NYC standards, it's spacious and quiet. Lots of shops, restaurants, cafes and city parks close by. We didn't see the hosts that much, as they spent most of their time in their room, but when we did see them, they were nice and considerate. I would definitely stay again! Some things to note: there are two hosts, so if you're planing on staying with a travel companion, it may be a bit tight (only one bathroom). There is a strong pot odor in the apartment; we couldn't tell if it was coming from within or a nearby unit, and weren't particularly bothered by it, but it may bother others who are sensitive to smoke/smells. Location is a solid walk from the subway, so if you're not wanting to walk or take the bus, it may feel inconvenient.

The apartment is clean and comfortable, but the neighborhood is a little sketchy and the nearest subway is a 20 minute walk away. The communication during our stay was also non existant. The check-in was a bit of a disaster - the host was not there to greet us, and we were given the wrong code for the lock to retrieve our key. It wasn't a great start to be left standing on the street after a long flight at midnight in a sketchy area... Once arriving in the apartment we were not shown how to use the shower or oven, or given any advice at all about transport or tips on what to do in the area. The hosts never engaged in conversation so we felt like we were unwanted and intruding on their space which made us feel a bit uncomfortable. Just a heads up - if you like sleeping in, don't stay here. The hosts set their alarm every day at 6am, and keep hitting the snooze button for 3 hours every single day which was quite annoying as the walls are very thin. We wouldn't stay here again, but if you want a cheap, clean place to stay and don't want to interact with the host, then go for it, but I think you can find a better priced place in Brooklyn closer to a subway stop.

Response from Maria:
Hi Yoann, I'm really sorry about the mix up at your check-in. I usually try to give guests their space as I don't want to overwhelm them and want them to feel that they have privacy. I'm sorry if that came off as cold. I know to visitors who aren't used to New York the area may seem "sketchy" but I have lived there two years and I assure you it's a very safe area with the police station around the corner. If you'd had any questions during your stay I would've been happy to answer them. As I said, I usually like to give my guests their space and privacy and am around if they need anything.

Maria's place was spacious, clean, and pretty quiet -- a perfect spot for us to rest after long days of traversing around the city. The room itself was well-lit & cozy and fit two people comfortably. We didn't have much interaction with the hosts overall, but Maria and Jacopo were very communicative and helpful when needed. The only con about this place was that the area could seem a bit sketchier at night, but my friend and I never felt unsafe.
