Private, quiet, 2nd floor, cozy, bright, clean, open layout, loft like one bedroom apartment located in the heart of Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood.

The space

Enjoy your stay in the top (2nd) floor of this updated 1891 Chicago landmark two unit building located on a quiet tree-lined street but only ONE block from the Division street entertainment/shopping/restaurant district. Your own private 150 sq foot outdoor bbq area is included and directly accessible from the apartment. Included is a queen size bed, new pullout sofa with queen size mattress, electronic locks for easy check in/out, fresh towels and linens, full kitchen, central air and heat, Comcast wifi, chromecast, 70+ hd tv channels, iron/ironing board, blow dryer, and misc toiletries. The main sleeping area with queen size bed is open to the rest of the apartment, however, there is a floor to ceiling room dividing curtain that can be closed for visual privacy. This 650 square foot apartment + 150 square foot patio is ideal for singles or couples, but will accommodate up to four with the queen size pullout couch. There is also an air mattress in the closet. There is plentiful (non-permit) free street parking right in front as well. 80% of the time you will park right in front of the building, and 20% of the time you will have to park around the corner, but under one block away.
Also, whenever possible, (at no extra cost) I will be very accommodating to early check in/late check out times. It will just depend on surrounding bookings...

Guest access

The entire apartment and patio area is your own space. The building has security cameras surrounding its outdoor exterior perimeter AND on the outdoor patio area that is your own space.

Interaction with guests

I am just a minute walk away and I'm easily reachable for any questions, recommendations or needs you may have, otherwise I will not be in your way.

Other things to note

1... This place is CLEAN. We require that you please remove your shoes when entering. The area rug is a quality piece. Its main purpose is noise reduction to the lower level, however, its sooo comfy to walk on.
Being a new listing, you may be weary of a lack of reviews. I understand. Please do note however that the linens, pillows, mattress, table/chairs and couch are all brand new and that the two carpeted areas have been professionally cleaned. Also note that this is a second floor unit. It has a much better quality of stay than the many ground floor/garden units on airbnb.

2... An animal (a small & friendly dog) stays in this building in the lower level apartment. No animals stay or are allowed in the unit being offered.

3... This building is located approximately 1.5 miles from Chicago's only inland beach ( a beach with sand, not a pool) inside the beautiful Humboldt Park. (See pictures). It is a 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk away. It boasts plentiful parking and a lifeguard on duty during daytime hours. No need to fight lake Michigan congestion, crowds or lack of parking if the urge to cool off with a quick swim arises. I swim here nightly and will assure you that the water is safe and clean, and that it is NEVER overcrowded. I'd be happy to give a personal tour of the park if you would care to join me on my nightly dog walk/swimming excursions...

4... This is a quiet street & building. You will not be disturbed by train nor bar/restaurant noise. (It is one full block from the west end of the Division street entertainment district, and 4 blocks, or a 7 minute walk from the train). The first floor residents are mature and quiet. This is not a party building. If you are LOUD this apartment is not a good fit for you. We ask that you please respect the "early to bed, early to rise" sleeping habits of the buildings occupants below you. Light music and conversations after 8pm are best held in the outdoor bbq area...

5... Smoking is absolutely NOT permitted in the apartment OR on the front stairs. This goes for medical marijuana smokers also. (Yes, i know, you have a prescription;). Smoking may be enjoyed in the outdoor bbq area ONLY when the patio door and window are closed. Please do not smoke on the patio while the apartment door and/or window is open. I will smell it and leave a review stating my disapproval. Also, please properly dispose of your butts in the trash.

6... Parties are not allowed! Please book somewhere else for your party visit. You may have up to two visitors during the daytime, but only the persons scheduled/approved through the airbnb booking are allowed to sleep here. The entire outdoor exterior surrounding the building and outdoor patio area are under video surveillance (remotely recorded and viewed) for mine and your safety.

It is imperative that the wonderful people who reside below this unit are respected. This includes a low and respectful noise level after 8pmish. I ask that late evening enjoyment of a mildly louder nature be enjoyed in your personal outdoor patio area. It helps keep down on the noise level to the first floor.

For mine and your safety, the entire exterior outdoor perimeter of the building to include your exterior outdoor patio area, is under 24-7 recorded surveyance.

I am just down the street. I am readily often available for any assistance/advice you may need, however will 100% respect your privacy when assistance is not requested.

Please make sure that all the doors and windows are closed and secured when not in use...

Robert was a great host. Space is clean, quiet and well cared for - the outdoor space in warmer weather is a huge plus. Tons of extras from a well stocked fridge to bathroom amenities. Great communication and the location is great for seeing Chicago. A great value for the area.

Robert’s apartment is charming, with beautiful exposed brick, spacious, comfortable, absolutely immaculate and secure. This Airbnb experience has been the most wonderful we have ever had! Robert is exceedingly generous and welcoming to his guests. He made all communication as easy as could be, and he let us know that he was always available for any issues or problems that might arise, of which there were none. Robert made us feel so much at home while generously providing us with treats and any items we may have forgotten to bring with us. The neighborhood is safe, the apartment is close to restaurants and some shops, and walkable to the train. We cannot recommend Robert’s place enough, he is deserved of super rave reviews! He is an amazing host! We are looking forward to visiting this Airbnb again!

Robert's place was very clean, well maintained, and had plenty of room. Robert was very easy to work with, he responded quickly, and was very welcoming. He is very generous with food and drink to cover breakfast and a light lunch or late night snack. Also plenty of personal toiletries if you forget to pack something. The apartment is beautiful , very quiet, and felt very safe. There's also a wonderful deck with comfy furniture - however it was raining so we hope to take advantage on our next visit. We will book again next time we visit family in Wicker Park.

This place was clean and comfortable and Robert really goes out of his way with details to make the stay great. Truly a great place. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Chicago and would stay here again. Communication was excellent and he was extremely accommodating. Thanks again!

Over numerous visits to Chicago we have come to love the Wicker Park neighborhood with its great vibe, convenient location, and numerous shops and restaurants. We were attracted to Robert's flat by the funky photo of life-sized horse and colt statues on the flat roof, looking over the edge toward the street. Inside, the studio apartment has a large living area, kitchen, and sleeping nook with a clean and comfortable feel. Robert is a very generous host in terms of making sure his guests are well-supplied. His refrigerator is full of treats, from local beer to still and sparkling water, soft drinks, and some food items and condiments. His medicine cabinet is also well-stocked with travel size items including deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste, etc. We were very comfortable there for a four-night stay. We had a rental car, and street parking was always available right outside the apartment door. The Damen station on the Blue Line is about a ten-minute walk away, so public transportation into the Loop is easy. The many restaurants in the area are diverse and many deliver if you don't feel like going out. All in all a great stay!
