Now under new ownership so for bookings go to "Ridge Vista Getaway".
The light and airy studio (60m2) is self contained, has a fireplace, great north facing deck (25m2) with a Weber BBQ and spectacular views all round. It is a secluded nature lovers retreat yet close to popular tourist destinations. Access to the studio is by AWD or 4WD vehicle via a well maintained 300m long gravel road from the bottom of our property.
Our property is located 4kms west of the thriving town of Cooroy near the end of a small quiet valley. There are no near neighbours to disturb your privacy. Most of the 27 acres of this Land for Wildlife property are now under covenant to secure the forest for future generations.
The studio itself is situated on the ridge in splendid isolation within an old growth eucalyptus forest. There are spectacular views of the surrounding countryside, including Mt Cooroy and Tinbeerwah, from every room. It is a true nature lovers retreat. It is private and the wildlife abounds. While the old growth forest is along the ridge elsewhere on the property the wildlife habitat has been extended over the years by the planting of more than 5,000 trees. We now see great recruitment of plant species thanks to the many birds that visit regularly and the plantings from 2003 to 2012 are looking like real forest. Feel free to wonder around and see for yourself. You are likely to encounter foraging wallabies, lace monitors and literally dozens of bird species. Many of the birds will visit the bird bath near the studio throughout the day. We don’t believe in feeding birds but do provide water. It is wonderful to just sit on the deck and watch them do their thing, honeyeaters in the grevilleas, others species chasing insects or foraging for grass seeds, dipping in for a bath or having a drink.
I highly recommend sundowners on the deck. You will see the changing colour of the near and distant landscape, breathtakingly beautiful as the sun sets and birds come for their last bath or drink of the day. You are also likely to see wallabies and goannas commute across the ridge and, of course, the ubiquitous scrub turkeys strutting about.
Its only 5 minutes drive Cooroy where you will find eateries, coffee shops, an award winning IGA supermarket, the old Butter Factory now an art gallery and gift store, historic walking trails and the Noosa Botanic Gardens. It’s 10 minutes drive to iconic Eumundi markets which are held Wednesday and Saturday, 15 minutes to the restaurants and riverside of Noosaville, and 20 - 25 minutes to Noosa Heads itself. Pomona to our north where King of the Mountain is held each year is also worth exploring with an Art Gallery, cafes and markets (every 2nd and 3rd Saturday of the month). In the Studio you will find a folder containing a lot of useful information and you can phone me anytime.
The studio is completely self contained and yours to enjoy. You also have the entire the property to explore, however its likely most guests would restrict themselves to the existing roads and tracks. If you are fit, walking up and down the hill is a worthwhile experience for the views alone.
Interaction with guests
I am available most of the time to assist, although this should not be necessary. If you don't have a suitable vehicle for travelling up the gravel road to the studio, or wish to park under cover, we have a 4WD
available for your use. Alternatively I will transport you to and from the studio as required.
Other things to note
The property harvests its own roof water, so we ask that you keep that in mind during your stay and the waste system is a bio cycle so ONLY bodily wastes and toilet paper down the toilet.
NOTE: FOOD FOR YOUR STAY
There is a great IGA, butchers, bakers and fruit shop in town to stock up for your stay.
- Okay to smoke outside.
SMOKING OUTSIDE, USE OF THE FIREPLACE AND BBQ MAY BE PROHIBITED DURING PERIODS OF FIRE RESTRICTION.
Mike and I are your hosts, we live on the property in our house in the valley so are here should you require transport up and down the hill. Michael is a licences builder and built both the studio and our house. We both now have environmental science degrees and are passionate about our land for wildlife property. After many years of work the once clear paddocks in the valley are looking like a real forest and the number of wildlife taking residence is ever increasing. You will see wallabies, lizards and many birds species during your stay. We also love to sail and have cruised the east coast of Queensland and NSW for years. We look forward to having you stay with us.
