The nearest tourist attractions are:
- Rue de bretagne (2min walk): It runs along the square of the Temple then the town hall of the IIIrd arrondissement and is very commercial
- Place des Vosges (5min by foot): The old place Royale of Paris, renamed place des Vosges in 1800, is a place of the Marais, forming part of the 3rd and 4th arrondissements of Paris. Designed by Louis Métezeau, she is the "sister" of the Place Ducale of Charleville-Mézières. It is the oldest square in Paris, just before the Place Dauphine.
- The Red Kids Market (5 min walk): The Red Kids Market was created in 1628, it was then called the Petit Marché du Marais.
The name of the Red Children was given to him only later, just as that of Marché de Beauce. These two names come from the proximity of the hospice of Les Enfants-Rouges ((PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)) created by Marguerite de Navarre for orphans whose uniform was red, which also gave its name to the district, and that of the street Of Beauce.
- Bastille (7 min by foot): Place de la Bastille is a square in Paris, symbolic place of the French Revolution, where the ancient fortress of the Bastille was destroyed between 14 July 1789 and 14 July 1790.
- Place de la République (7 min by foot): Place de la République is a square of 3.4 ha1 located at the limit of the 3rd, 10th and 11th arrondissements of Paris. It was called Place du Château-d'Eau until 1879.

Location

Paris-3E-Arrondissement, Île-de-France, France

Le Marais is a historic Parisian district, located in part of the 3rd and 4th arrondissements of Paris, on the right bank of the Seine. It is now bounded on the west by Rue Beaubourg, on the east by Boulevard Beaumarchais, on the north by the Rue de Bretagne and on the south by the banks of the Seine and Boulevard Henri IV (hotels of Aumont , Beauvais, Chalon-Luxembourg to the south of Rue Saint-Antoine).
Le Marais is an old swamp area occupied since the 12th century by religious orders, including the Order of the Temple, which set up establishments there. From the thirteenth century onwards this peripheral district was included in the fortified enclosure built by Charles V and became the residence of the Paris nobility. Many private mansions built in the 17th century remain today. From the middle of the 18th century, the neighborhood was gradually abandoned by the Parisian elite, in favor of the Faubourg Saint-Honoré and the Faubourg Saint-Germain, which offered more space. The French Revolution ended the hunting of wealthy owners. The neighborhood is then occupied by a population of craftsmen and workers who occupy the old hotels and built workshops in the old inner courtyards.
The large works of 19th-century Paris did not affect the neighborhood, which kept its narrow streets, but many quality buildings were gradually destroyed. In the 1960s, a program of safeguarding and preserving the neighborhood was launched under the impulse of André Malraux. The preserved area is now, thanks to its beautiful buildings, frequented by tourists and sought after by the well-to-do classes. Many museums are located there.
