One bedroom in a 2-story traditional Thai house is available for rent. This is one of the most popular local neighborhoods outside of the old city, with some great food options. You’ll love my place because of the natural surroundings, coziness and proximity to popular places/activities. My place is great for solo adventurers in particular but can also accommodate couples sometimes upon request (please contact me if you are more than 1 person). I have very friendly pets, ANIMAL LOVERS ONLY.

The space

The bedroom does not have air conditioning but stays comfortable in the evening, as it does not get very much sun and multiple fans are available if need be. March, April and May are the hottest months. Hardwood floors and large breezy windows are great features of this room. There are shelving units for storage and a laptop table for working.

Guest access

Guests have access to the entire property. There are 2 living areas, a large paved garden with multiple seating areas including a front porch shaded by an old mango tree, and an entirely separate kitchen house. Feel free to do laundry, cook in the kitchen, lounge around in any of the living spaces. I provide coffee/tea and some fruit on the kitchen table in the mornings.

Interaction with guests

I have been living in Thailand for 16 years, 13 of them here in Chiang Mai, and have traveled extensively around SE Asia. I am available to help with anything you need- trip planning, foodie recommendations, language questions, etc... Don't hesitate to ask.

Other things to note

Cleaning service is provided free of charge once a week on Saturday if you are here then.

The place is really nice and really clean. Great location, VERY quiet at the end of a street with only the occasional airplane taking off (which your going to hear anywhere on that half of Chiang Mai.) Traditional Thai wood house. Big clean kitchen for you cookers. But the host acted very immature and has a major anger management issue. At 7am on Saturday morning I had to call my bank (money issues with debt card) and a client (emergency). I had to be on my computer while talking to them as that was the only place I could hook up my desktop to the internet. I was outside her room. She comes barging out yelling at me for being on the phone at 7am on Saturday morning outside her room. Then she huff and puffed downstairs and then back up banging as loud as she could with every step and slamming the doors like a 15 year old. I was not talking loud at all, even a bit quieter than normal conversation but not a whisper. My client heard her screaming. Maybe she had a hangover and wasn't feeling good. But being 40 years old and runs a business herself, coming back at 2am and sleep until 11am, I don't think I am the one out of place. Kind of ironic that the place is called Peaceful Garden Oasis. If your a guy, and don't know much about dogs its best you reevaluate. The dog bite me and I was told that it was abused by a man before she took the dog in. So the dog doesn't like men. Normally it just growls and doesn't attack but I was on my phone and wasn't watching his face and trying to pet him. My fault. But if you can't read a dog and your a man its best you keep your distance. Some days he will let you pet him and rub his belly, some days nope!

Response from Amy:
Brandon was my first problematic guest since starting on Air Bnb. There was absolutely no communication prior to his arrival about his intentions to work from my house all day every day, with a full desktop computer set up. Not one word was mentioned or he would have known that the only dedicated lines that I have run out of communal. From 6 am well in to the night, he worked at his new office in my living room. The frustration with a 6:30 am phone call directly outside my bedroom door on a Sunday morning came as this was not the 1st early morning phone call since his arrival and he could have been more considerate. He never left the house, cooked 3 meals a day (including using supplies from my kitchen without asking), and not one word was mentioned about his plans. This was just an awful experience with no communication what so ever. As far as my dog goes, I think it is obvious based on all my other reviews that my dog is very friendly and not at all vicious. Animals are a good judge of character and this was a one-off situation, he did not "bite" but nipped at him when being teased. There were also completely inappropriate comments regarding Asian women stereotypes. Like I said, an all-around awful Air Bnb experience but my first and I tried to make the best of it. I would not ever recommend Brandon as a guest to anyone that would be sharing a space with him or who has pets.

Amy's house is in a quiet, residential area. While a bit of a walk from the city center, it offers a more local experience during your stay due to the neighborhood. There are restaurants nearby as well. I had a pleasant stay and felt safe and secure in the area even as a solo female traveler.

Amy is a fantastic hostess! I had some trouble with my taxi driver... He was confused about the location of the house and he took me the wrong way. One call to Amy and she had it all sorted for me. She gave useful suggestions and recommendations that made my stay that much more enjoyable. The house is quiet, cute and clean amidst nature but close enough to the city. I highly recommend you stay here.

Amy is friendly and easy to communicate. Love her lifestyle and three animals. Her house is beautiful and quite. She borrowed me her bike so I can go everywhere easily. I really enjoy my holiday here. Hope someday I can meet her and three cute babies again.
