Our guest suite has two separate bedrooms. They share a full bath and sitting area above our great room. A sliding door serves a balcony furnished with a patio table and chairs. A small refrigerator, coffee pot and drop-leaf table are indoors.

The space

Our two, second-floor guest rooms share a full tub-and-shower bath, access to the balcony and airy sitting room overlooking the great room of our home. Across the great room is a south-facing wall of windows which raises the temperature of the whole area on sunny days.(URL HIDDEN)Two rocking chairs, a sofa and a drop-leaf table and chairs furnish the sitting room, besides the small refrigerator-freezer. There is a slider to the balcony with table and chairs. It faces east across the woods that surround our recently-built home. In early-morning light, the sun sparkles off Little Robin Lake, through the leaves across the road. Some nights, moon-rise is inspiring(URL HIDDEN) Each of the two guest rooms is rented separately. Each room has a comfortable queen-size real bed. This one is a four-poster bed with comfortable inner-spring and foam mattress, on box spring(URL HIDDEN)There are two diner/convenience stores within 1 - 3 miles of our place. A third is just downhill from Kushi Institute, about 5 miles up
Rt. 8 north from our place. All serve very good, reasonably priced breakfasts, lunches and light dinners(URL HIDDEN) Becket and Lee have a wide variety of restaurants from casual counter seating to fine dining; Lee has quite a variety, including international restaurants (from Pizza to top-rate Indian food) at varied price-points(URL HIDDEN)Our home is in a private community of hard-packed dirt roads, heavily wooded, 2nd-growth forest, and varied homes of charmingly individual styles and sizes(URL HIDDEN)Our mixed-breed dog is very friendly once she's "told" newcomers that she's the watcher-of-the-door, and our two middle-aged cats may see an open bedroom door as a welcome to share the bed.(URL HIDDEN) We don't welcome guests' pets in our home. Sorry(URL HIDDEN) We're only 3 miles east of Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival which offers a summer season of performances by varied and internationally known dance companies. There is year-round live theater and music performances within half-an-hour of our place at several venues. There are downhill ski areas about a half-hour's drive and a cross-country ski place near here.

Guest access

There is off-road parking for up to 4 cars across the driveway from our front door(URL HIDDEN) Access is private to five, small lakes all of which are tested regularly and are safe for swimming and free from zebra mussels. Our guests share our right to enjoy the lakes and roads.(URL HIDDEN)We have DSL wireless with a separate guests' account, so there's good internet service, and good cell phone reception(URL HIDDEN) We supply bedding, towels, drinking glasses, paper products, and liquid hand soap. Hair dryer, ironing board, and iron are available on request.(URL HIDDEN)We don't provide breakfast or other meals, but our guests can use our microwave and there is a small electric, drip coffee maker upstairs. Bring your own tea or coffee and condiments(URL HIDDEN)Our kitchen refrigerator is not available except for guests' extraordinary need. We prefer that our gas range not be used by our guests.

Interaction with guests

We meet our guests when they arrive; so we ask about expected arrival time to plan our day to be home when they arrive. We also try to help them avoid possible issues with routing directions that might show up on GPS or computer app. maps. We live here year-'round, and come and go as we please. So do our guests.
Once our guests arrive, and get settled, we pretty much leave them to enjoy our guest suite with as much privacy as they'd like. We try to be approachable so our guests feel free to ask for information and directions.

Other things to note

We're new construction, and careful to keep our home's "energy footprint" as small as possible. In cool weather, be sure to bring warm socks and a cozy, long-sleeve shirt so you're comfortable. Our in-floor radiant heat keeps us warm, but we set the thermostat at a temperature that assumes warm, indoor, clothes. We supply lots of warm bedding. In summer, our cross-ventilation is really effective. We supply fans for the few hours and days that they're needed for warm-weather comfort.

House Rules
No smoking
Not suitable for pets
No parties or events

No smoking policy is absolute. Also, no open flames, no candles, for example. If you need kitchen privileges please plan with us beforehand. The bedroom has modest drawer space, and closet space is limited but enough for a few days' stay. (We store our off-season clothing in part of the closet.) If you use the refrigerator, just be sure to clear it of everything that you've held in it when you depart.
If there's a problem, please tell us about it sooner, not later. We want to be helpful and are happy to provide directions to places you want to find and suggestions if you need them about restaurants and local activities.

They are excellent hosts. The house, and in particular room, lobby and bath were very clean, hygienic. I liked the place as its on a hill, close to a lake with quiet surroundings. My room and lobby had complete privacy. Robb And Julia know the area well and guided me to a nice breakfast place, SHERWOOD SHOPPE, about 5 minutes away.

Excellent location both convenient to town yet hidden in quiet, scenic woods. Robb, Julia and their lovely dog Seika and two black cats are wonderful hosts and very helpful. Highly recommended.

It’s has been a delightful night spent in the middle of the forest. We only wished to stay longer. The room is so clean, bright, nice and comfortable. The all floor with two airbnbs bedrooms and nice living room and a terrace are really nice and perfect for a family. I really hope to be able to come back and discover more of the area which seems lovely. Julia and Robb have been great and give us an amazing advice for a restaurant to have a great diner. Julia, the nicest person on earth by the way, even called them for us before to make sure they were open. It has been a real pleasure to be there and wake up with the sound of nature. While leaving the place by getting into our car, we both at the same time shared that we felt that both Julia and Robb shall have a lot to share, a lot to teach about their lives…. So sad we had a long road in front of us that day.

We loved our stay at Julia and Robb's place! It was so spacious and comfortable! We were going to a family wedding at Jacob's Pillow so it was a perfect location for us. We had so many family members staying that is was great that they had two rooms over at their house that they also rented out! The over flow went there! The house that we rented was very well equipped with a full kitchen, dishes, pots and pans etc., iron and ironing board. We could not of asked for anything more! Julia was such a great hostess. She even mailed back a sweater to us that we had forgotten behind. We would definitely come back again!

Robb and I are both semi-retired, and we built this project and moved in less than 3 years ago. It's important to us that in-floor radiant heat is supplemented by passive solar and that our, "footprint" is as small as we can manage. We dearly love living in this young forest. W…
