McKinley’s Cabin is our authentic, hand hewn, 1840’s era log cabin with a hot tub, wood burning fireplace, and air-conditioning.
It is is on Carnifex Ferry Road, the dead end road that leads into Carnifex Ferry Battlefield State Park.

This cozy cabin has a wood burning fireplace, TV, VCR and CD player in the living area and a complete “kitchenette” (apt. sized appliances) including a microwave.

There is a spiral staircase leading to the upstairs bedroom where there is an antique brass bed.

There are several hiking trails accessible from the front door of your Carnifex Ferry Cottage covering 200 acres with 3 magnificent overlooks! One trail leads to the upper Gauley River, the Beast of the East as whitewater enthusiasts call it, and the class V+ rapid, Pillow Rock, one of the most intense rapids in the eastern United States!

We really enjoyed our stay here! Like other reviewers have mentioned, it can be a little difficult to find but it didn't take us long, even in the dark. All of the other cabins have name plaques right near the driveways and this one was a little hidden. The bed was on the smaller side but that loft gets some incredible morning light! We expected the small kitchen and had no issues with it. The hot tub, however, didn't work properly during our stay, even with the instructions provided. Overall, we were incredibly happy here and would definitely return in the future!

Response from David:
Kristin: Glad to know that you had a happy time here. I am a bit confused about your problem with the Hot Tub though. It's in fine working order and had you let us know that you were having a problem we would have been there quickly to solve it. We will look forward to your return. Dave Sizemore

It was everything we wanted it to be. The location is great so much to do so near by. The only I have to say is the other reviews are not kidding when the say its a firm bed! Night one I thought that's not so bad, bunch of babies. Night two after 12 mile hike I was singing a dif tune. The hot tub was fantastic and super clean. Just wish I brought a mattress pad. I would def stay again!

Clean cabin with a spacious backyard. The microwave/mini fridge/stove with standard utensils were convenient. Within walking distance to state park, quiet, and the host was very friendly!

This cabin was all we expected and more. Incredibly clean for a historic building.....Very charming and the owners/staff are attentive. This cabin is part of a larger system of cabins nearby. Yes, it's dark in the main room, it's a cabin built in 1840. The back porch, the surrounding yard, and national park 300 yards from the front door offer you all the sunlight you'll need. The bed was very firm, which I prefer. We brought a blowup queen mattress as we had read the sofa bed was uncomfortable...plenty of room for that downstairs or upstairs. The upstairs is larger than I anticipated and the AC units keep the entire place as cool as anyone could want. I posted a couple pictures and my friends are all salivating to stay here. Highly recommend.
