This property is located over a working stable that is occasionally used by the Mounted Unit of An Garda Siochana. It is quiet spacious; and the big surprise is the peace and quiet even though it's in the heart of Dublin city.

The space

The mews building at the rear of No.63 Merrion Square is an integral part of one of the most significant survivals of an 18th century Dublin townhouse - comprising main house with garden, mews and stables with its own small garden - within the classic Fitzwilliam/Merrion Square area of Dublin. Situated on Fizwilliam Lane the Mews is a quaint and charming property.

Built in 1792/93 the house retains much of its historic character and fabric. The garden is one of the few surviving gardens in Merrion Square and most certainly the only remaining garden retaining a 19th century design and layout. The Mews also has a private garden, coach yard coach house and stables.

The stables have been conserved, and given a new life as a place to rest and water the horses of the Mounted Unit of An Garda Siochana while they are on duty in the city centre.

Other things to note

Our buildings were made to the standards of earlier times – and sometimes without the intention that they should be lived in. Consequently you may encounter features that reflect their particular character but that deserve due care and attention, particularly by the young, elderly, less mobile or visually impaired. Examples of these are steps worn with age, uneven surfaces, low ceilings and beams, unexpected drops or changes in level, and by modern standards low or absent lighting. In all cases we have sought to make a sensible compromise between due regard for safety and the careful retention of the fabric of each building, which makes it an interesting place to stay. We ask you to appreciate and use the building with this understanding, and recommend you read the information in the Guest Book in the property

Great place to stay in Dublin! Tucked away from the noise of the city but only a few minutes walk from the city center.

Our stay at the mews was wonderful. The house is beautiful and had loads of character. The location is ideal for access to all Dublin has to offer. The house is ideal for 6 people staying and has everything you would need. Only downside is there is only one shower but that didn't affect our stay at all. I would recommend anyone to stay in this beautiful house, we will be looking to stay with the Irish landmark trust again. The host was very welcoming and was happy to tell us everything we needed to know about the place and where to visit in Dublin. Arranging the collection of the keys was smooth and they were even accommodating of our extra early arrival time. All in all we had a wonderful faultless stay in the mews and would definitely come back for another trip.

The Merrion Mews was the perfect place to come home to during my family's time in Dublin. It is so close to the city centre, where all of my favourite shops and restaurants are, and it is a short walk to both Merrion Square park and St. Stephen's Green, two beautiful parks in Dublin. The house itself is quaint, and attentively detailed to make it both comfortable and beautiful. The kitchen was a great cooking spot, with all of cookware necessary to make family dinners together. We could tell that the house was thoughtfully decorated not only for function but also aesthetics. Each bedroom was unique with a historic feel throughout the house, but renovated to be comfortable, including a divine shower en-suite to one of the rooms. There were many skylights throughout the bedrooms and bathrooms, which helped the Mews to feel bright and comfortable. We had a comfortable and pleasant stay, and would love to come back to Merrion Mews in the future.

Loved the location and Arron was amazing and welcoming. It was quiet and clean will amenities. We could walk to sights. This was wonderful and we will stay here again.

Merrion Mews is a magical place! The photos only begin to capture the wonderful warmth and all around good vibes of this lovely listing. The location is perfect- in the center of everything but also (somehow!) quiet and secluded. Our hosts were easy-going and accommodating. This place is home-away-from-home and I highly recommend staying here on your next trip to Dublin.
