Adorable newly remodeled basement apartment that retains the charm of 1950's when it was built for Grandma Bee (hence the Bee theme & name "Honey Hive"). No granite counters or stainless steel here, but full of quaint amenities & comfort. There's a fully stocked kitchen, private bedroom with memory foam mattress & hide a bed in the cozy living room. Located on the half acre of our Homestead property (also on Air Bnb), guests can enjoy the patio, bar b q, fire pit, orchard & our backyard flock of 5 friendly chickens (and their eggs.) Convenient downtown location just off Main Street.
The Honey Hive is a BASEMENT apartment located below The Homestead - our 3 Br 2 Ba Farmhouse style retreat, also listed on Air Bnb. The Hive has its own separate entrance from the outside as well as a rear door leading out to the spacious gardens and orchard. The apartment is private but you'll likely hear footsteps and perhaps muffled sounds coming from the house above IF guests are present upstairs. If you have the TV or music on, you won't hear much. However, we do have ear plugs and a white noise machine just in case. If you are a very light sleeper or sensitive to ambient noise, this might not be the best fit for you.
Now that's out of the way, let's talk about the great things you'll find at The Honey Hive! The kitchen is completely stocked for all your cooking and dining needs, including a supply of staples, condiments, spices, snacks, breakfast cereals and of course, our wonderful homemade jams. Full size fridge, 1950's stove that still works great, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, but no dishwasher (that would be you :-) Vintage table and chairs, an electric fireplace and our unusual collection of Bee decor add a touch of whimsy and charm.
The living room is open to the kitchen & has two comfy chairs and a ( small) double hide a bed couch (perfect for a couple of kids or very close adults!) Flat screen TV with complimentary Netflix and wireless internet will keep you connected.
The bathroom is stocked with all necessary supplies, luxury towels, and Organic Honey bath products from the Yucatan that will leave you as fresh as can BEE!
A washer and dryer in the adjacent storage room is just for guests at The Honey Hive.
Whether you're just passing through town and want the comfort of your own little place or are spending a few days exploring So. Utah's treasures including The Shakespeare Festival, The Honey Hive is a GREAT PLACE to BEE!
Guests at The Hive will have complete access to all the outside amenities on the property including the large covered patio, bar b que, fire pit, hammock area, fruit from the orchard and fresh eggs from our backyard flock of friendly chickens.
This is a shared property so we ask that you are considerate of other guests that might be staying upstairs in The Homestead. There's room for everyone to find a place to relax and enjoy the outdoor areas.
There is plenty of parking on the street.... It's a very safe neighborhood.
Interaction with guests
We try to meet all of our guests upon arrival for the 5 minute tour and answer any questions you might have. We don't live on the property but are just a few minutes away and are happy to come by if you need something. We can be be reached by text or phone almost anytime. We are often at the property working in the garden, tending the chickens or other chores but your privacy will always be maintained. It's your vacation after all!
There are folders in The Honey Hive filled with information about the area as well as Zion, Bryce and Cedar Breaks. We are happy to make recommendations to help make you visit memorable.
Private tours with Steve can be arranged to explore ghost towns, rock hounding sites, native petroglyphs and other hidden gems should you want to see a bit of the unknown west. Just ask!
Other things to note
The Homestead property where the Honey Hive is located was once a working Chicken Farm. We have re-created a few unique chicken coop displays but the best is our REAL CHICKENS. We invite you to visit our 5 funny hens, feed them some scraps and gather fresh eggs for your breakfast ( though they don't lay till the afternoon!) See if you can figure out who is who: FLOPSY, MOPSY, BLACKIE, OAKEY, AND SMOKEY.
SMOKING: We ask that all smoking be done outside on one of the lovely patios or garden areas.
PETS: Most pets (and their well behaved owners) are welcome and we expect you will be responsible for them AT ALL TIMES. We do have a modest pet fee ($20-30) that you will need to pay upon your arrival(URL HIDDEN) *Please do not let your dog run unattended through the flower gardens or orchard due to our unique chicken displays as well as our live chickens(URL HIDDEN)*The area at the far back of the orchard is a good place for dogs to do their business. Take them on their leash to the designated area and Please DO NOT let dogs on the lawn. I spend all season trying to maintain a beautiful place for everyone to enjoy, but one accident on the lawn takes MONTHS to repair ( if it ever really does!) Thanks for understanding.
*All droppings should be removed and disposed of in the large trash can in the patio. You'll find bags and a pooper scooper in the pet area.
*Please don't leave your pet alone in the house unless in a crate or you've made arrangements with us.
*We can come check on your 4 legged friend and take them out if you'll be gone all day.
*If there is any unreasonable damage to the house or property you will be charged accordingly through Air Bnb resolution center.
BEING A GOOD GUEST: As this is a shared property we ask that you respect other guests that may be using the common areas at the same time. There's plenty of room for everyone to find a corner in which to relax outdoors.
CHECK OUT: Since we are one of the few properties that doesn't charge a cleaning fee or security deposit we ask that you help by doing these 3 simple things before you leave:
1. Please take all bedding, towels and linens that you have used to the basket in the laundry area.
2. Empty any waste baskets that have been used and take all the garbage to the trash cans outside in the patio.
3. Please do up your breakfast dishes before leaving. There's a dish pan and drainer under the sink and they can be left on the counter.
We realize accidents do happen and sometimes things get broken- please let us know so that we can take care of any mishaps.
Your help in doing these few things allows us to NOT charge you a cleaning fee saving you money and saving us time. Your help is appreciated.
