TOWNHOUSE GARDEN GUEST SUITE for a week or a month . COME visit and stay in private suite in this landmarked 1870's row house. Private entrance, full kitchen, wifi, tv, garden, historic cobblestone street and 2 minutes from subway or bus. Private bathroom up a short flight of stairs. The apartment is the ground floor of the townhouse separated by antique church door from the owners unit. Weekend Jazz here in Sugar Hill and a great retreat for a week or longer in the city,

The space

The guest suite is the original gathering spot of the townhouse and opens into a beautiful little garden. Hardwood floors, original fireplace hearth and a full kitchen for your use. Up a small flight of stairs is a bathroom with new shower for your private use.

Guest access

Guests have their own separate apartment and bath within the house. And the back garden is available to you exclusively. I do ask that if you are around for the midday sun that you water the plants if possible.

Interaction with guests

I like to welcome my guests when they arrive and then , if you need anything, I encourage you to text or call me with any questions or special requests.

Other things to note

I look forward to offering a relaxing and enjoyable stay for all my guests. It's lovely to enjoy a bottle or two of wine and we have a good liquor store just down the avenue. That being said, we are a 12 step family so -- we are probably not the best stop for a highly boozy week or two.

It was a wonderful stay. Large apartment and wonderful sized kitchen. Susan left us enough food to make breakfast in the mornings. Great size bed. The stairs and bed were a little creaky/squeaky but the home is vintage and beautiful. Susan was so accommodating with checking in and out and is an absolutely wonderful host. We loved spending our anniversary in your home. Anyone would be lucky to spend a week with you!!!!

The street is lovely & very quiet. Because there is no street parking & no garages on the street, there is very little traffic noise. We didn't have an A/C but we weren't too hot at night and were out every day. There is a humidifier which looks new. Also there is a large floor standing fan which we used a couple of nights. It is a great location with plenty of supermarkets & other shops very nearby. It is also about 100 yards from the C Train subway/metro station. We used this every day to easily get to central Manhattan & Central Park - very convenient. The little private garden is just lovely - to sit in the cool or eat meals in. Not everyone will find the bathroom upstairs very convenient. The squeaky stairs up to this and the way the AirBnB has been split off from the hosts floors above means it is very easy for guests to hear the host & vice-versa. No so good if you are a private person or don't like to disturb others if you go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. The kitchen is quite complete although cutlery & cooking utensils are an 'interesting' collection. Susan was friendly and helpful, especially as we arrived quite a lot later than planned (we got stuck in immigration at JFK for 2 hours along with about 500 other people because one of their systems failed). If you choose to stay, check out the historical house at the end of the street.

Response from Susan:
Actually Andy, there is a large AC unit in the apartment. It is what you thought was a humidifier. You needed only to turn it on! Just like the fan that is above the stove. And, sorry you did not find the entire set of cutlery pots and pans in the next drawer over! As well the two sets of pans and dishes in the cupboard above the stove. I will be more careful about explaining that guests when they visit.

My sister and I stayed for 4 days. Susan's home is 1 minute away from the C subway and a supermarket. This made travel very easy seeing as we took this subway to Central Park, the Met, Statue of Liberty in less than 45 minutes. The apartment itself was very clean. It is tucked away in a quiet street monitored by cameras and where foot/car traffic is limited to the residents who live there. Felt very safe and well maintained. Susan communicated quickly and made the stay very pleasant.

My friend and I stayed for a week here during our vacation. The area is nice and quiet and extremely convenient -- right next to the train stop and a supermarket, which made travel very easy seeing as we spent a lot of time out of the apartment; and it was nice to have the supermarket nearby to stock up on water and snacks. The apartment itself was also very clean when we arrived and the entire area was just adorable. A nice getaway from the hustle and bustle of downtown. Susan was an excellent host and communicated with us very well. She was extremely accommodating -- providing us with an air conditioner when it got more humid than usual and lending us some bug spray to use after we accidententally left a window open one day and let some mosquitoes in (totally our fault). Overall, highly recommend this place. It's a very convenient location, clean place, and you will be very well taken care of~

This is a good option if you are looking for place to stay if you are visiting New York, good neighborhood, you have a big supermarket by the corner and the subway line A, C. about 20 min to go Times Square in Manhattan. Everything was clean and you can talk with Susan if you need something. Very Good in general, we recommended.

Susan's place was in a beautiful historic terrace oozing with charm and very friendly neighbours. It was spacious and clean with everything we needed for our 5 day stay exploring New York. Great value for money - I was a bit worried it would be too far away from downtown but actually it was right next to the subway and really convenient for getting around. Susan provided lots of information about the area which has a few nice eating places nearby. Really enjoyable stay!!
