Enjoy a charming suite in beautiful Old Town, Alexandria. We're just 2 blocks to the Metro, for a short ride into DC or surrounding area. With a private bath and partial kitchenette (fridge, toaster oven, microwave and coffee machine), free off-street parking, plus shared access to a washer/dryer and backyard with gas fire pit, it's a great alternative to a hotel. If you want to drive, there is free street parking (with guest pass) and we are just 15 mins to DC, 8 minutes to National airport.
This comfortable basement suite with private access from my backyard, has a private bedroom and full bath that were recently renovated. Enjoy a partial kitchenette with refrigerator, toaster oven, microwave and coffee machine and sitting area. Your home away from home is located just blocks away to 2 metros (King Street and Braddock Road), restaurants, grocery store, and shops. We are also a nice stroll or free trolley ride away from the popular Old Town Waterfront. You're in the perfect spot to launch your area visit!
A queen-sized air mattress is also available for extra people, but would make for a tight fit.
During the summer, there is a public pool ($5) with swim lanes or perfect for a refreshing dip after sightseeing. There are also basketball courts and soccer field nearby (I have basket and soccer balls for your use).
Guests will have access to the basement suite with bathroom, kitchenette and washer/dryer through their own separate entrance via the backyard. Guests have also have access to the huge backyard, with gas fire pit. There is an internal door to our main level, however we keep this door closed for mutual privacy. I also have a very friendly 3 yo chocolate lab that can be overly affectionate. If you'd like to have access to the full kitchen, just ask.
You have access to the washer/dryer with detergent that is in your space. Occassionally, I may need access to use it, but I'll coordinate with you first and try to only use it between guest stays.
Interaction with guests
I enjoy giving recommendations on restaurants and things to do--just ask! I'm very accessible via phone and text.
Other things to note
I have a very friendly 3 yo chocolate lab named Charley. Visitors usually love him, but we are still learning our manners so he may bark and jump on visitors. If you'd like to meet Charley, just ask. You may also run into him in the backyard, where he likes to chase and play fetch.

I love to travel and just completed my first US cross-country trip over five months. I stayed at many great Airbnb homes with wonderful hosts, so thought it would be fun to do, too. Airbnb has a great community of guests and hosts.
I'm a rare native of Alexandria and am happy to give you advice about Old Town and DC. I've lived in this house in Old Town for over seven years and love it here--close to the water and everything is within walking distance from restaurants, bars, boutiques to great history sites. Old Town is also known as "Dog Town" and we fit right in with our friendly, sweet, 2 yo chocolate lab, Charley. All the guests love him and *we* are still in training.
Where ever you decide to stay, I hope you visit Old Town and enjoy it.
