Welcome to La Terraza, our spacious 3-bedroom apartment in the heart of Xela. We offer our guests things that can be hard to find in the city. Quiet, heated bedrooms; high-quality beds and bedding; stable, high-speed internet; a hot shower; a huge private rooftop terrace and so much more! All just a 5-minute walk from Central Park and 3 blocks from Quetzaltrekkers. We love sharing our home with travelers. You are very welcome to come stay with us!
Welcome! Our apartment has 3 bedrooms and we rent 2 of them. It is located on the second floor and accessed by a private entrance and a flight of stairs. You will be provided a set of keys so you can come and go as you please. I also provide guests with a map of the center of town with a list of over 30 resources (restaurants, cafes, grocery stores, ATMs, pharmacies, etc.) all within a 5 minute walking radius.
I keep the apartment spotless so my guests can enjoy their time here and feel pampered. Free wifi, french-press coffee, seasonal fruit and filtered water are provided. Our guests have access to all of the shared spaces of the apartment - living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, covered patio and terrace. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes and cooking equipment. Guests are welcome to plug in the 'twinkle lights' on the patio and enjoy a glass of wine or a nice evening meal with a little ambiance.
This specific room has a very high quality, medium firm mattress. The room is especially quiet as it is located at the back of the apartment, away from any street noise. The window is shared with the covered patio but allows lots of natural light.
The main rules here at La Terraza are to enjoy yourself and respect the peace and tranquility we try to create here. We ask that only registered guests use the property and that there is no excessive noise between the hours of 10pm and 8am. No parties or drugs. Smoking is only allowed on the upstairs terrace.
It's a pleasure to share the following with my guests:
PRIVATE ROOF TOP TERRACE: the terrace has a 2-person swing, patio table, a lounge chair, and a 360 degree view of the city, volcano Santa Maria and cerro del Baul.
COVERED PATIO: has a patio table, 4 patio chairs, a gas grill and utility sink. Guests are welcome to use the gas grill.
LIVING ROOM: with two large, comfortable couches this is a great spot for lounging.
DINING ROOM: has a large table for eating and a smaller table great for working on your laptop. With lots of light and a view of Xela's colorful city streets this is a favorite spot in the apartment.
KITCHEN: is fully equipped with a large fridge, microwave and stove. As well there are dishes, utensils and cooking equipment for your use.
BATHROOM: the bathroom is shared and always kept clean. It has a large, very hot shower.
UTILITY SINK: there is a large utility sink on the patio and clothes lines on the terrace if you need/want to wash clothing by hand. I can also recommend two very good laundry mats close to the apartment.
PARKING: there is no onsite parking but there are two paid parking lots within 3 blocks of the apartment.
Interaction with guests
I've lived in Xela for 3 years and am very happy to help with any questions during your stay. I can recommend lots of great restaurants, cafes, and day trips.
I work from home in my oversized bedroom/office so I am on-hand much of the time. However, I give my guests the space and level of interaction they desire. Guests also receive a set of keys so they can come and go as they please.
I'm here to help. Send me a message with any questions!
The main rules here at La Terraza are to enjoy yourself and respect the peace and tranquility we try to create here. We ask that only paying guests use the property and that there is no excessive noise between the hours of 10pm and 8am. No parties or drugs. Smoking is only allowed on the upstairs terrace.
CHILDREN: The upstairs terrace is not safe for children under 8 years old as there is no safety railing. We are happy to rent to families with children as long as parents are aware of the risk and very careful to supervise children at all times. :)
Hola! I'm Mary and I'm from Colorado, USA. I've lived in Guatemala for 3 years and absolutely adore Xela. I work from home and enjoy sharing the two extra rooms in my apartment with travelers who are here to experience this amazing city.
I love traveling, cooking, trying new foods, playing the piano, reading, hiking, biking, kayaking, and meeting new people. If you're traveling through Xela, come stay with us!
