This is one of three guest rooms, each with private bath, on the main floor of a large country home. Kitchen and dining areas, a recreation room with large screen tv and games, a den with fireplace, and a piano in the entry foyer are shared areas. The office area is strictly for the hosts' use, and is not shared. WIFI and high speed internet is provided. The "Country Comfort" room is bright and cheerful with three large windows dressed with lace curtains and privacy blinds. It is furnished with an antique brass double bed, quality linens including a feather comforter, a desk, dresser, reading chair, and flat screen tv with remote and ROKU device for streaming free movies and such. Guests also have access to a covered front porch with chairs, benches and tables, and a large back yard with barbecue for picnics and play. Sports equipment is available upon request.
The property owner is a builder and farmer, and his professional equipment, including trucks, trailers, portable sawmill, logs, and tools, are stored on the eastern half of the two acres. He enjoys introducing guests to his current projects, including his collaboration with a prominent sculptor, the large barn/greenhouse under construction, and the alternative energy systems. For safety reasons guests are not permitted in the equipment area unless the owner is present.
Interaction with guests
Your official hosts are John and Christine, owners of this property, but their day jobs do not provide the flexibility that Grandma Marilyn enjoys as a retiree. As their co-host, Marilyn meets guests upon arrival and provides a brief tour of the property. At other times she can be reached by phone or text. Marilyn is fluent in French and English, with basic knowledge of a few other languages. We have hosted guests from 14 countries. Our longtime handyman, Guillermo, works from 9-5 Monday-Friday to maintain our family properties, and he also assists guests if needed during those hours. We strive to make your visit as enjoyable and as comfortable as possible, and look forward to sharing our knowledge of the many historical, cultural, and recreational venues in the Mid-Atlantic region.
