We had a great stay in Jay's guest room. His house and patio are picturesque, and the room and bathroom are large enough and fully air-conditioned. I found the bed to be a bit too hard, but the comforter/pad Jay provided made it very comfortable. (My husband was comfortable both ways, so evidently it's personal preference.)
The unique house is steps from the ferry, but it should be noted, the steps are UP. Get detailed directions from Jay before starting up the labyrinth of pathways. It's steep but not impossible. We're in our 70s, runners in good shape, and my husband carried the suitcases up, but I wouldn't have been able to.
Lamma Island is an interesting place. Jay had described it as a 'sleepy island', and indeed it is, with wonderful walks criss-crossing the hills into different small clutches of houses, shops and restaurants.
It was a lovely respite from the action of Hong Kong, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Jay. Highly recommended!
