My place is close to great views and plenty of wildlife. You’ll love being here because the location is second to none! It is great for romantic getaways or exploring the rainforest to see birds, platypus in the creek at Broken River or just to hang out. The name "Eungella" means "land of cloud" so when you wake up in the morning you will likely be surrounded by thick cooling cloud which clears by about 9am to a beautiful sunny day with the wildlife just waiting to be discovered!
Eungella is about 90 km north west of Mackay. To get here you will travel along the lush Pioneer Valley with sugar cane farms and green belts of trees with the mountains in the distance which you are heading for.
You will have access to all parts of our property while you are with us. We live with a variety of birdlife including peacocks and guinea fowl which are very quiet and will eat from your hand. There are also horses on our property.
Interaction with guests
If you need anything at all please feel free to see me. Myles is also available to take you on the bird watching guided tour or platypus viewing at Broken River. You can ask about the cost of these tours if you are interested in taking up the opportunity or, stay two nights and receive a complimentary bird watch tour from Myles who runs the rainforest tours for the Broken River Resort.
Other things to note
Eungella is often shrouded in cloud especially in the mornings but the climate is mostly cool and delightful.

Living up here in Eungella had always been a dream of mine. As a friend in Eungella once commented: "Eungella is when you die and go to heaven!" How true this is. I love my animals and my garden and I don't ask much more of life. I have peacocks and Guinea fowl and many other birds all of which have their individual personalities and can be hand fed. I am always excited when I have been away and to return here is just wonderful. To help with the considerable work here I often have "Wwoofers", young overseas backpackers who work for me in exchange for accomodation and meals. I have always ensured that they enjoy the time spent with us by taking them to see platypus or teaching them to ride the horses.
My partner, Myles is experienced at identifying bird species and is always available. He has been a tour guide for the local resort for more than a decade.
Eungella is wonderful place to visit and nour 700 metre altitude means that it is often five to seven degrees cooler than the coast.
Therefore I often recommend bringing suitable layers of clothing, a pair of indoor shoes for the times it may be cold or muddy.
Eungella is an absolute delight to visit for the bird life, the glorious climate, the beautiful forest to stroll through.
