A modest and minimal shotgun home in the Treme just 1.3 miles from fairgrounds (the site of New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Fest) and 1.8 miles from the French quarter. Easy access to city park, NOMA and Bayou Saint John.

The space

This spacious bedroom is filled with art from local artists and contains a queen size bed, closet, antique chest, writing desk & chair. The room has wood flooring, high ceilings and is divided by none structural walls and curtain. Private entrance and side porch!

Guest access

Guests will have access to guest room, living room, bathroom, kitchen, backyard and side porch.

NO ACCESS to the kitchen on Sundays. SORRY! I do some heavy duty kitchen prep for my weekly popup.

Interaction with guests

I live in the front half of the shotgun where I also work. I am home most days working in my studio. Always feel free to knock on my door to ask me any questions about the house or the neighborhood or shoot me a text.

Other things to note

I have a cat that CANNOT go outside. The fleas in New Orleans are mutant bloodsuckers that are almost impossible to get rid of. If he gets out for only a moment, it guarantees a flea infestation. Never leave the doors open. Never let kitty out.

Great place to stay! Centrally located, about a 10 min uber ride to all the local hotspots! The house is perfectly described, and very welcoming!

My partner and I stayed here for a week and, on the whole, it was great! Sarah is a great host! The room itself is exactly as shown. It is a built room though, with no door (it is a curtain), so keep that in mind. The house looks great from the outside and is conveniently located close enough by public transport (or even on foot) to the downtown-core and French Quarter. That being said, the neighbourhood itself might not be the best if you are travelling alone or looking to go out at night. As friendly as locals are, saying hello to all passersby, there are a few sketchy characters that wait until one is alone to intimidate them, be it during the day or night. If you are not someone with street smarts who is comfortable handling situations where you might get intimidated, stay closer to the tourist epicentre (i.e. the French Quarter). Also, keep in mind that in New Orleans an area might feel very safe then a block later can change completely and vice-versa. All in all, I do suggest Sarah's place as the location, price and experience of living like a local are well worth it!

It was a wonderful place to stay but due to circumstance beyond her control it had to be shared two days before.

Sarah's place was great for our week in New Orleans. We definitely got the entire NOLA experience in Treme which has mixed style homes and more of a neighborhood vibe as opposed to the more tourist-centric neighborhoods. It's also two blocks to Willie Mae's and longer walks to other restaurants, cafes, and botánicas--which Sarah provides a great list of recommendations. Short uber ride to French Quarters, Mid-City, and art district. Sarah was also very communicative and connected us with her neighbors when we were stuck inside due to heavy rain and street flooding.

Sarahs home is very bright and airy. Bedroom and kitchen were very clean. Bathroom also was ok. Its quite close to the french quarters area and so I saved quite a bit of time going around New Orleans. She was very responsive whenever I needed to reach out to her. She left thoughtful notes and few things for guests to use behind. Very nice of her! Only thing I was concerned were few bugs in the kitchen. I asked her and she said that it was Palmetto season and thats why they appear. I guess its the weather then! Also I was a bit concerned about street parking but there was no untoward incident. Overall I had a great experience with this unit! Thanks Sarah

Sarah's place was great for our two day stay in New Orleans. The house was beautiful and of interest to tourists as it is built in the tradition shotgun style. The room was private and well furnished, and the bed was comfy. The house was a short cheap uber ride into the city, but also had some lovely independent restaurants nearby. All in all a good value experience.
