The space

Our guest home is built on top of Mount Salem, so there’s always a cool breeze and views from our roof deck and verandas, overlooking Montego Bay, the ocean, and mountains. Reggae music is usually wafting through the air from the nearby corner of indoor markets, takeout food, and other local neighborhood services. It’s just a short drive from the airport, the “hip strip” for dancing, shopping, and beaches, the straw market for local crafts, carvings and clothing, the experience of downtown and suburban health food store, pharmacies, bookstores, and large supermarkets.
P.S. Kalonji - healthy, healing, energizing;Talawa – strong, sturdy, fearless

Guest access

You can enjoy the living room, kitchen, and verandas on your floor. The two suites, one on each floor have separate entrances but can be joined together for larger groups. All are welcome to the roof deck, 2nd fl verandas and can schedule the jacuzzi spa up on the deck. Route taxis ($.80 US to shopping), grocery stores and take-out food are a block down the street.

Interaction with guests

We enjoy interacting with our guests, and are also fine with giving you your own separate space . . . whatever you desire. We are here to help you have the best vacation possible. We’ve had a number of guests who all gave us excellent reviews before we listed. Toney is an excellent chef for meals and juices prepared with fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, fish and chicken from the nearby farmers’ market. If you wish, he’ll guide you through the market, and provide cooking lessons. He’s a great ‘selector’ of CD love songs, soul and reggae music. Cheri, a certified health education coach, enjoys sharing her miracle recovery from cancer using natural healing methods. We both love to introduce our guests to welcoming family and friends, the beautiful beaches and countryside, cultural history, folktales, and the variety of attractions. Montego Bay is the second largest city in Jamaica and preferred destination for most tourists. It's an hour from Negril, two to Ocho Rios. We'll pick you up and take you back to the airport.

Cheri met Toney in 1994 when she came to Jamaica to find a guest house she had ‘dreamed’ she was to have in retirement. Instead, she met Toney; they instantly fell in love and were married in 1996, raising two sons in Philadelphia. A while ago, the time was right for Toney, with a contractor friend and family expertise, to build our guest-house. The name combines our November birthstones—topaz, plus my dream, plus it looks like a palace, doesn’t it! Be ready to be treated like the Queens and Kings you are!

The Topaz Dream Palace is just stunning, the view from the veranda is breath taking and the air is so fresh! This home is so peaceful. We booked the private island room, it was cozy and had a private bathroom. The location is great and only a few minutes walk to a gas station and food. The palace was very accommodating and we received a complimentary breakfast of toast and coffee. Only one word comes to mind when I think of the hosts Jah B and Empress C and that word is “Love”. They welcomed us with open hearts and let us feel like family. We had an amazing stay and will definitely revisit! -One Love, Armando y Linda

One word BLESSED!! My boyfriend and I are so blessed to have been able to stay at The Topaz Dream Castle! It is every bit of it's name a Dream! From the pick up Cheri & Toney were nothing short of a Blessing allowing me to use their phone to contact my Jamaican boyfriend who wasn't at the airport waiting and reassuring me that he would be ok. To the welcome greetings to the home and the amazing hard work and love they've put into the home! Toney cooked dinner for my boyfriend and he absolutely loved it! This family is very wise, generous, hospitable and loved but most Importantly BLESSED! Thank you for everything you have done for us in these 5days and I would recommend your home to the world!! These guys are truly the best! So full of energy, so caring, sooo informative and are soo ready to just love on people and share what they have to the world. You HAVE to hear Cheri's stories. A walking miracle! That explains why she is soo giving and kind. Toney was very accommodative. On short notice, he ran into the town and had no problem getting food for us. That sort of kindness is a rare commodity. His cooking- impeccable! I highly recommend Topaz Dream Palace to anyone looking for an amazing, simple place to relax. From our team, hats off to you both and may you be blessed beyond measure! Nuff love!

this is real jamaican living, but with americian hot water!!!! (true Jamaican homes dont have any) Tony is a great cook , so be sure to sample his food while you stay there. he has more knowlege than any book you can buy about jamaican food and the natural uses for plants. He told me more types of teas then i can remember , plus made the best coffee i had tasted on the whole island! he offered to pick me up at the bus , gave me rides to the beach, and made sure i caught my plane on time. just the nicest man. cheri is collecting jamaican history like a bookworm. she knows all the great spots that may or may not be on the innernet, as well as the names of the people there who can help you get the most out of the experiance. She is a ray of sunshine, the type of person who truely views others not as strangers, but friends she has not met yet. As for the house , all i can say is i want one exactly like it, (but purple). you will want it too. About jamaica, however long your holiday is for , trust me, its not enough time.

In 1979, I visioned I was to have a guest house in Jamaica for retirement. I came looking in 1994 and met Toney--we married in 1996 and raised two awesome sons in Philadelphia, then built the villa. I'm publishing a book about this 'fairy tale' called "Loving to be WE." I was raised on a farm in Kansas, was Deputy Director of Mental Health in Philadelphia, then co-founder and director of a university-based multicultural training and research institute. I now am a writer and Editor of FunTimes Magazine celebrating the African and Caribbean Diaspora. I'm a certified Holistic Cancer Education Counselor (having helped my body rebalance and overcome a stage 4 lung cancer diagnosis in three months!) I enjoy meeting people and showing them around Jamaica--talking about the culture and history; traveling; writing and keeping up on healthy living, politics and current events. I am blessed to have an amazing, loving husband, and to be living my dream life! I look forward to meeting you! Soon come....
