Other things to note
The house is located in the heart of the Thièrache, a lovely area with many meadows and a forest within walking distance. You can walk for hours without practically encountering anyone. The gentle rolling coulisserie landscape is ideal for cyclists.
The region is known for its 'Églises fortifiées', fortified churches, of which the famous church in Jeantes is located 5 minutes away. Nearby attractions include the Familistère (19th-century residential commune) in Guise, Saint Michel Abbey and the Matisse Museum in Le Cateau-Cambrésis. Or a day trip to the new Louvre in Lens.
For cyclists and hikers we have collected routes in a folder. In the immediate area you can climb, horse riding, mountain biking, fishing, canoeing and tennis. There are also a swimming pool, swimming lake, sauna and bowling. The Thièrache is the region of the famous Mairoilles cheese and the cider. Mari Maris, known by the successful cookbook 'De Groentebijbel', has her table d'hote 5 minutes away from the house. In Plomion, Brunehamel and Aubenton are restaurants. All imaginable supermarkets, markets, bakers, butchers are in Hirson and Vervins.
