A fully equipped riverside cabin on the Klamath River with outdoor deck in the Six Rivers National Forest. Sandy Bar is an out of the way place to relax and explore a little-known corner of Northwest California, with great hiking, biking, rafting, fishing right at your doorstep. We are a 1.5 hour drive inland from the Redwood Coast, providing an opportunity to escape the crowded, sometimes foggy, tourist attractions, and get off the beaten path.

The space

This riverside cabin comes with a full kitchen & linens, private bedroom, bathroom and a deck that looks over the Klamath River. The interior has a clean, aesthetically pleasing, rustic appeal of solid redwood interior with hardwood floors. The bedroom has a queen bed, and two more twin beds can be made in the common kitchen/living room area. Each cabin has identical floor plans, with the exception of Cabin 6, which is slightly larger, (it has a second bedroom with queen bed, and more windows facing the river). Our pet friendly lodging is open to all four-leggeds, as long as they can behave around our goats & chickens!

Guest access

It's a short walk down a path to our private sandy beach and swimming hole located across from Pearch Creek, a pristine mountain stream that can be heard from the cabin decks. There is a long stretch of river just below the cabins where guests are welcome to roam. Guests are also welcome to use our lawn for lounging or volleyball, our covered cabana (nice place to check the internet or just relax) and wander in our organic garden.

Interaction with guests

We are happy to recommend places to go and things to do, and offer information on our area. Once guests are settled in and oriented we like allow them their privacy. There is always someone here at the ranch, though you may not see us. Mark and Blythe live on the property, as do Max and Tasha, our caretakers. When you arrive, check the whiteboard on the office porch for your cabin assignment and basic information. Someone will check in with you to make sure you're settled and oriented. Our phone numbers are listed in the office, so if you can't find us yo can always call.

Other things to note

Sandy Bar Ranch is off the beaten path, in a beautiful corner of the world. This is one of the few remaining places with no cell service; we invite you to take full advantage of this, relax and unplug during your visit. Our office is equipped with WIFI and a land line for your use, but neither of these are available in your cabin. You can contact the outside world when you want, and we can pass phone messages to you, but in your cabin the main thing you’ll hear is the river.

We love, love, love Sandy Bar Ranch. It's a gorgeous, secluded location with its own private sandy beach on the river. But you may never want to leave the cabin's peaceful, shady back porch with the sound of a little waterfall coming through the trees. Mark and Blythe are warm and friendly hosts and, when not swimming, our kids love wandering through the organic garden, feeding the goats and chickens, and playing badminton and table tennis. Highly recommended for a deeply relaxing getaway.

We're Blythe Reis and Mark DuPont. We met in a village market in Guatemala in 1990 and acquired Sandy Bar Ranch in 1992. We love music, backpacking and travel, as well as growing and eating delicious food. We helped to start the Mid Klamath Watershed Council on 2000, where we continue to serve as staff and board members. We feel blessed to live in the Klamath Region, on this land, and enjoy sharing the experience with others.
