If you're not a fan of bush camping but like the camping feel, then come and spend a few nights in "The Hangar". This one roomed area provides a rustic fusion of comfort and camping on a rural property 20kms outside Bathurst. Called "Watton Airstrip", the property once housed an Airstrip for the Watton Station which has since been broken up into smaller pieces. The Airstrip is now a fenced paddock and our house sits where the planes once took off but the property is still pretty awesome!

The space

A great space for families seeking a country escape, couples seeking a romantic love nest, artists, musicians, business people, or anyone wanting to experience some solitude in a beautiful bush surrounding.

It was everything we needed: clean and comfortable, the fire was great, the area is very peaceful and relaxing. Tammie is a very friendly and nice host...she went out of her way to make our stay enjoyable. We would love to come again when we are in the area. Many thanks, Lindsey and Arthur (sister-in-law & brother of Cheryl)

Tammie was a fabulous host and staying at the Hangar was the perfect glamping experience. Even better that they welcomed our dog too! It was a great experience and Tammie was a very welcoming host.

Tammie and Damo were fantastic hosts. They are passionate about the area and willing to share their knowledge, which led to us having a fantastic weekend in the area. The shed is very basic, don't expect anything beyond the description, but it was perfect for kids to explore the bush and a base for exploring the area. Suitable for those who like to rough it camping, but can't be bothered to pack the tent for a weekend away.

Basic but the river and animals were a winner with the kids. Damien was a super star host. We'll be back :)

The "Hangar" was a wonderful experience, from the moment we booked it until our departure. It was our first time "glamping" and a brilliant way to soothe the mad hormones of our two teens. From our arrival Tammie and her lovely family ensured that we were comfortable, that we didn't need anything and at the same time gave us our own privacy. After lovely walks in her property with stunning views and walks by the Macquarie river at the bottom of their property every night we sat around our own wood fire outside, while I cooked dinner comfortably inside. (Two gas stoves and all cooking utensils provided). Also it gave us an experience of what life is like in the Bush but still with amenities and good mobile reception, if needed. Beds were supper comfortable and thanks to all the blankets that were provided we were able to sleep warm. As expected due to the time of year it was a bit chili. The kids also loved not having to have a proper shower but go back in time like old fashion cowboys and use a wet rag and soap. Go back to basics.... We saw all sorts of wild animals including emus just outside the hangar. Tammie also through great communication prior to our arrival allowed us to bring our dog and let a couple of our friends who joined us for a day pitch a tent outside for a minimum fee. And if that wasn't enough on our last night, Demian, Tammie's partner, cooked for us a Dutch oven dinner that was absolutely delicious! And even better as price was very reasonable. We will be definitely coming back and would recommend it to anyone who likes a bit of comfort and yet have the feeling of being out on the outback.
