A fresh spacious self catering annex for two in a converted barn attached to 17th Century Park House. Enjoy an open plan bedroom and seating area with lovely views across the Somerset Levels. Walk to 2 pubs, a restaurant, museum, church, shops and tea rooms!

The space

The living area upstairs in The Garden Room is simply furnished with comfy leather armchairs to relax in. The open plan living and bedroom is airy with beamed ceilings, a double bed with good quality bedding. Downstairs is a small shower room, a really good size kitchen for cooking up a storm (ceramic hob, combi microwave/oven/grill) and a lovely dining area in the conservatory over looking the garden. There is a small patio area with BBQ for sunny days.

We are very happy to store bikes securely!

Guest access

Guests access the garden room through the garden, but unfortunately it is not available for use. However, there is a small patio area for guest use and the house backs onto a large park and the Somerset countryside!

There is no parking at Park House, but it is less than a minutes walk. You can load and unload right outside and there is overnight parking opposite.

Interaction with guests

The annex is attached to our family home and we very much enjoy meeting our guests. We are very happy to share our favourite places to visit, eat and enjoy in the area.

Other things to note

The living area has a tv and dvd player with a selection of dvds for you to watch. Also a stereo system with CD player and radio. There are guide books and maps to help you enjoy your stay.

The kitchen is fitted with ceramic hob, combination microwave/oven/grill, larder fridge, kettle and toaster. We will leave a few essentials (tea, coffee, milk, cereal and biscuits) to get you started.

The annex is attached to our family home and there is a locked interconnecting door to the main house.

I had a wonderful stay with Sarah and Rob. The Garden Room is lovely accommodation and for me is up there with my best Airbnb experiences. Much more roomy than the photos portray and very well equipped. A bonus is the book and dvd collection. Sarah and Rob are both very friendly and helpful hosts. I would recommended the Garden Room to anyone looking to stay in the Mendips.

The Garden Room is more than a room - it's more like a tiny house. You can sit in the conservatory and enjoy the beautiful garden and read a book or work from home upstairs as internet is excellent. Sarah and her family are lovely and graciously took care of all my needs including directions, taxi service and use of laundry. Axbridge is like something from a fairly tale, only with yoga, a great pub, the bus stop and lovely shops 2 minutes from the front door. Not easy to leave! Continued success Sarah. Thank you again.

A lovely place in a great location! The host was so helpful via emails before the trip and recommended some great places to visit and was around if we needed anything during our stay but left us to have a lovely private peaceful holiday.

Sarah and her family were very warm and sensitive to our needs. They even asked a friend for a high chair for our little boy which made our stay a lot more comfortable. Big YES!

Stayed at The Garden Room for 6 nights with a friend. Sarah was very helpful and responded quickly to messages via Air b&b. Apartment was as described and comfortable - had everything we needed including decent wifi so we took a laptop and watched films on Netflix a few times. Axbridge is quite small but had a couple of pubs and a co-op shop for essestials. We ate in the Lamb which did decent food and had drinks in the Crown which is v close to the property. Locals all seem friendly and prices were reasonable. We did a day trip to Cheddar - worth visiting the cheese making factory (£2) and stocking up on cheese and cider to take home! We got the bus there but it was running almost 30 mins late so don't rely on timetables! We walked back as it's not too far (went back with the car another day to shop). Glastonbury is worth a visit and it's a nice walk up the Tor. Inspired by a review on here we went to Kilve one day and looked at the rock pools (no beach there just rocks and grass). Nice cafe there doing ice creams and cream teas etc. We then went on to Watchet which has a pleasant harbour. If you buy fish n chips at the chip shop near the harbour you are allowed to eat them in Pebbles Tavern next door. We did this as it was a bit windy outside and had some nice Rhubarb and Custard cider in there. The Cider Barn at Draycott was worth a visit. Rustic and mainly full of locals including children and a few dogs. Food was decent and cider was nice and reasonable. £10 each way for a taxi. Would be good to go when they have live music on. Clevedon pier worth a visit. We ate in the Tiffin restaurant which serves mainly fish in the evening- v pleasant and friendy staff. Overall a lovely trip!

The Garden House is cosy & situated in a beautiful green garden, which we really enjoyed. It was nice and peaceful. It is located very close to the shops, post office, museum, pubs & bus stop; we found this very useful as we didn't have a car. Sarah was welcoming and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend staying here.

My husband Rob and I and our children live here in Axbridge. We love being in the beautiful Somerset countryside and try to make the most of it! When we are not here we enjoy family holidays and visiting friends and family. We have enjoyed collecting souvenirs from our travels, love music, cooking and entertaining.
