The Maple Cottage sits on a 12-acre property surrounded by trees with a view of Tomales Bay. This clean, modern studio is bright and open with high wood ceilings, radiant-heat floors, king bed, full bath, Coyuchi linens and EO soaps.

The space

PLEASE NOTE: We have another rental home, FoxGlove Retreat, on the same property, adjacent to the Maple Cottage. These can be rented together or separately. Together they can comfortably sleep 8 adults.

The Maple Cottage was lovingly designed by the owners to be a retreat for their friends and family. Surrounded by trees and tasteful landscaping, the cottage's large screenless windows on all sides make this studio light and spacious.

There are three buildings on the property. One is the owners' home, which has a completely separate parking and entry area. The second structure is the Maple Cottage, and the third is FoxGlove, a 3 bedroom house sometimes used as a vacation rental as well. The Maple Cottage is freestanding, but we do want to make it clear that there is a home on each side of the cottage, and there may be a few other people around. That said, we've had few complaints from guests, as you can see from the reviews. We're all here to enjoy the serenity.

Guest access

Guests have their own driveway and parking area. A well lit path leads to your doorstep. In front of the cottage is a lovely sitting area with bench and table looking down the hillside, through the trees, up the bay, and across to the hills on the other side. Perfect for morning coffee and afternoon wine (coffee, organic half & half, wine glasses & wine-key await you in the cottage).

Interaction with guests

Unless you need something, you shouldn't see or hear us. But we're right nearby if you need anything at all.

Other things to note

Please note that the Cottage does not have cooking facilities. It does have a coffee maker (Keurig), coffee, cream (local organic half-n-half), mugs, wine glasses, cutting board & cheese knife. There is a mini-fridge with freezer.

As mentioned above, the cottage is located between the owners' home and FoxGlove Retreat, which is sometimes used by the owners' family, and other times rented out to guests.

This is a lovely place. All of the windows and the architecture make it a wonderful place to hang out. Aaron has also thought of almost everything so it's amazingly comfortable. That said, you'll want to get out and check out Pt. Reyes. Everything is super close so this is a great base.

Aaron was great to work with and his instructions are on point. Staying at a place off the beaten path can be a little confusing, but Aaron makes it so easy! He leaves great instructions. Also, listen to his suggestions! We took the Elk Reserve McClure Beach hike and loved it and went to dinner at Sir and Star. He knows what he is talking about. The cabin was gorgeous, relaxing, clean, and so special! It was hidden up on a hill - almost felt like we were in a tree house. Loved it and was not ready to leave! Would love to come back.

It's a great "base camp" for you to freshen up and get rest. You can unwind there. Close and convenient to Point Reyes Station. Be mindful that there is no kitchen and restaurants and stores close early in the area.

For those who want a small and quite place this might be the place for you. I would describe this place as a motel room in the woods in regards to amenities. It's not really near anything close by so plan to travel further to see the sights. The room could use a dusting, I was either plugged up or sneezing from my dust allergies. I would also relocate the refrigerator since it's 2 feet away from the head of the bed and the compressor is always running. The surroundings were nice and the weather was fantastic.

We are Point Reyes Vacation Rentals, helping property owners market their vacation homes and to provide the best possible experiences for our guests. My wife and I both love to surf, hike, beach-comb, explore farmers markets, and eat good fresh local food prepared well. We both have careers in hospitality, and we feel strongly about the importance of customer service and the feeling of satisfaction that comes from providing others with the best possible experience. We love being hosts, and providing a nice, clean, comfortable "base camp" from which you can explore this amazing area we are so lucky to live in.
