I am Chandria: beloved wife, mother of three amazing children, animal lover, avid reader, cook, baker, candle stick maker (not really :) and enthusiastic host.
My husband and I have been together for 20 years. We used to travel extensively throughout the states and internationally. Now with our children's busy schedules we are content with the trips we make for their activities, family visits to CA & FL, and the occasional couple's get-away to Minneapolis or Kansas City.
We have two dogs, two rabbits, a tortoise, and fish. All of are animals are rescues except the fish. I will read anything, but prefer historical fiction, biographies & memoirs, and the occasional mystery. My favorite authors are Gary Jennings, Pat Conroy, Nelson DeMille, Isabelle Allende, Lisa See, Michael Connelly, and Jonathan Kellerman. David Sedaris and Tom Robbins make me laugh hysterically. I could go on and on... I enjoy baking all kinds of desserts and cooking anything and everything, especially Indian, Greek, Italian, and American comfort cuisine.
I was actually born into the hospitality industry, as my grandparents owned two restaurants. By the age of five I was selling flowers by their front door, at ten I was helping to seat people, bus tables & wash dishes (I guess no one was enforcing the child labor laws in the 80's), by 15 I was waiting tables. Since then I have worked every front and back of the house position in a restaurant. My concentration has been in fine dining for the last 25 years. I can definitely help you find the perfect place to eat in Des Moines.
I am good friends with Connor and started out cleaning the House on Grand. I recently took over hosting duties and absolutely adore it! I live close and am easily accessible. The house is set up for self check-in, but I enjoy meeting with the guests when it is convenient for them. Just a few minutes to get to know new and exciting people and show them all of amenities the house has to offer. Anything I can do to accommodate your stay and make it the best possible visit is my pleasure!
