In an ideal position for exploring the coast of the Cinque Terre, Liguria and Northern Tuscany. This 4 hectares property is an idyllic cultivated dell hidden in the oak woods on a hill high above the sea with two houses giving accommodation for 10. You can enjoy our recently built a 10m * 3m swimming pool shared with our Concara guests. The property is ideal for two families as they have common grounds and sperate kitchens. The estate produce a fine natural red wine called 'Margot'.

The space

The two houses, called Dolina and Dolinetta, have been recently been renovated and converted, and both face a wide lawn in front of the estate's small vineyard. The vineyard has been planted on a tiny verdant plain that is a feature of this limestone landscape. The surrounding woods were once all cultivated and are criss-crossed with beautiful dry-stone limestone walls, so thick they form raised paths. We have been carefully restoring these old walls and re-introducing crops, carefully chosen to fit the landscape and the situation. You'll find fruit trees dotted around the older oak and pine, and small, walled fields of bean plants, or potatoes. The houses have also been given a new, green life and are self-sufficient for both electricity and hot water, making this a very ecological place to stay.

Dolina accommodates 6 and has wide furnished pergola, the ideal place for outside dining, shades the front of the house. The ground floor is one extended living area with the kitchen on the left and, to the right, a living area. The kitchen has a beautiful long window running the length of the end wall, giving a panoramic view of the gardens to the side of the house. In the centre and back of the room, stairs lead to the top floor, where a double bedroom has an en-suite bathroom, with a small bath, and a twin bedroom has doors leading onto a terrace. This terrace has a lovely overview of the gardens and vineyard. A third bedroom, at the back of the house, is also a twin and has doors leading out to the garden. At the back of the house there is also a further large shower room.

Dolinetta accomodate 4. The front of the house has a lovely pergola, shaded with vines. A table sits under the pergola while further along there are sun loungers. The central room is entered from either side via large doors; there is a kitchen area at the back, on the right, with a dining table and chairs in front. To the left comfortable armchairs mark the living room area, with a Satellite TV on the wall. The bedroom on the left is a double, with a window to the front, and an en-suite shower room at the back. The other bedroom mirrors this but is a twin, and also has an en-suite shower room to the back.

Guest access

The guest will have access to all the property.

Other things to note

We rent as well a small cottage in the estate called Concara (host 2) and another house 200 meters from Pian della Chiesa called Murella (host 6).

This is a stunning spot a short drive from Lerici. The access road is beautiful but quite narrow and steep. It is quite easy to do the drive up but probably a good idea to arrive in daylight! I cannot tell you how beautiful it is as you will all want to go! And we do want to go back...... The two houses have a lot of both lawn and flower beds/orchard. In an oak wood clearing overlooking Ottavio's vines. Ottavio was a delightful and discreet host. Available when you needed him but otherwise very much in the background. The new pool is a great asset and really made the place work. We were two families and our family was in the newer smaller house. Ensuite rooms with good wifi and insect proof windows made life very comfortable. Lots of bird life and lizards to be seen.

We spend 5 nights over the easter weekend at Pian della Chiesa. It was a wonderful place, it is perfect for a larger group (8-10) people who will find more than enough space in the two houses. You will find it a quiet, but not isolated place, but you will need a car though. We used it as our base for excursions to Cinque Terre, Genova and Pisa, for which it was perfect. Ottavio, the owner, was very friendly and helpful. He has a lot of insider tips of the area and can tell you exactly what is worth seeing in the area and when to do it, which restaurants to go to and which supermarket is the cheapest. Last but not least you will spend your holidays in the middle of a winery! We got two bottles of Ottavios wine as a welcome present and took some more of it home with us when we left. All in all we enjoyed our stay a lot, I highly recommend the place.

We visited Pian della Chiesa in three families with children, total 11 people for 2 weeks. Pian della Chiesa is a great place to relax away from the hustle and bustle of the city, and a well-located base to explore the surrounding sights - Cinque Terre, Portofino, Pisa and Florence. We have loved the large space in front of houses, ideal for children to play, or for a prolonged breakfast outside. The onsite winery creates an unforgettable atmosphere. There is a lot of tall trees around offering comfortable shade until about noon. The buildings themselves recently renovated, very comfortable and cozy. Inside - all you need and more, including a good introduction to nearby attractions, restaurants and sport facilities/options. During our stay, Ottavio was on holidays, but we were in touch and he has been supportive in every respect. In summary, the place is very nice, comfortable and we can recommend it to people looking for a holiday home in this area. We thought lack of pool might be an issue, but frankly with all these beautiful beaches nearby, staying in the pool would be a waste of time. Enought to say that Ottavio left a reasonably large inflammable pool, but our kids used it only twice during those two weeks. Last but not least - Fiumaretta, which is 20 min drive away is a pretty good windsurfing spot. Same budynki niedawno odnowione, bardzo wygodne i przytulne. Wokół dużo wysokich drzew dających komfortowy cień do około południa.

Ottavio and Margot welcomed us into their absolutely lovely houses Dolina and Dolinetta. From the first moment we felt at home and had a magical week in Pian della Chiesa. The place is wonderful. The town of Lerici is in easy reach (by car around 10 mins). There is also a handful of beautiful beaches to visit without a long journey. If you go there, you MUST visit the Cinque Terre.

The host canceled this reservation 77 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.

Response from Ottavio:
We had to cancel the reservation because I did not know that we had enabled the instant booking facility, the price of the booking was wrong and we are reluctant to book for less than a week in high season.

Pian Della Chiesa is a wonderfully quiet and peaceful out-of-the way place to stay. It provides a great base from which to hike, travel on day trips, or relax and read a book surrounded by lovely nature and a vineyard. We were three people who rented the smaller house (the Dolinetta) from May 16 - 23, 2015. We found it quite easily by car (you'll need one) and although our hosts, Ottavio and Margo were out of town and unable to meet us for the first few days, their gardener, Pino, met us and showed us the house, the grounds, where to shop, and he provided us with a tour of Carrera, which was very interesting. The house is sweetly rustic with all the amenities we needed. The beds were so comfortable and the duvet cozy, especially on a couple of cool mornings we had. We loved that we were situated within easy driving access to La Spezia (where we caught the train for Cinque Terre), Parma, Pisa and Florence. Our hosts, Ottavio & Margo were extremely kind and responsive, answering any questions we had about the area or operations of the house. Their dog, Paco, was just a delight and accompanied us on one of our hikes. We would recommend staying at The Dolinetta on the Pian Della Chiesa property and we hope to return one day.

It´s a wonderful house, very stylish and tremendously calm, hidden in the woods, but still close (15-20Min) to the beaches and Lerici. Perfect for kids and groups 4-10 with all the space in the garden, making great fires and dinners outside. Ottavio cared about everything and helped where ever it was needed. There is good information about the region in the houses, very professional. We loved it.

We love nature.
We love to look after Pian della Chiesa, Murella and Concara.
We also produce a fantastic red wine called 'Margot'. We sell single bottles or boxes of six.
In the next few years also our extra virgin olive oil will be available.
