Holly Cottage is a double fronted, stone character cottage dating back to the early 1800's. With luxurious soft furnishings and a welcoming, fresh and cosy feel, it is an ideal property for guests looking for an elegant and relaxing getaway in this vibrant town. Very quiet and well set back from one of the oldest roads in town, it is a short stroll from the many galleries, restaurants, deli's, cafes and the picturesque waterfront.
It is our 'home from home' which we love and hope you will too!
Holly Cottage oozes charm and character and still retains many of its original features with its thick stone walls, exposed brick work and wooden beams. It offers superb holiday accommodation for up to 6 guests, with three bedrooms, a bathroom and large kitchen/diner, a small separate utility room and WC, cosy lounge and adjoining study area.
We are extremely lucky to have two outside spaces, which is rare in town!
In front of the cottage is a large decked and gravel area, perfectly located for al-fresco meals, planted with shrubs and olive trees, with a large teak table, seating and BBQ/fire pit. At the rear, is our newly landscaped garden with a stone terrace and seating, surrounded by planting. Wooden steps lead up to a large deck built around and under our beautiful oak tree, with wonderful panoramic views of the town and water. A perfect spot for a sundowner!!
Central heating throughout, which is controlled by a Nest thermostat and there is free Wi-fi. There are three bedrooms; one with a Superking zip and link bed, which can be split into two singles, if required. The second bedroom has a king size bed and the third smaller bedroom has a single bed, which can convert to two singles or a cosy double.
A stone tiled bathroom with WC, basin and bath with shower over. From the rear landing, glazed double doors lead to the rear garden.
Large open plan kitchen, with Victorian pine table to seat 6, a painted dresser and additional seating. The fully fitted kitchen has a large Smeg range cooker with electric oven and gas hob, a Smeg fridge freezer and a small integrated dishwasher. It is well equipped with ample cutlery, crockery and cookware, though Dartmouth has many wonderful places to eat, so the kitchen may not get much use! Off the kitchen is a small utility room with a washer/drier and WC.
The cosy lounge has original, painted wooden floorboards and a fireplace with wood burning stove and wall mounted Samsung TV with Freeview and Amazon Firestick. Adjoining this is a small study area, with a desk, bookshelves and a music system with Bluetooth.
The cottage is perfect for those looking for a centrally located, but very peaceful retreat, which is only a short stroll to the nearby restaurants and galleries.
There is a good sized front garden/deck area which is perfectly located for outdoor dining. At the rear, which is south facing, there are stone steps up to a lovely paved terrace with seating and raised flower and herb beds. Please note access to the top deck in the rear garden is accessed via a flight of wooden steps, which would make it unsuitable for people with mobility problems or young children.
Interaction with guests
We can be contacted by phone or email if any problems should arise or if you have any questions, otherwise we will leave you to enjoy your stay and make yourself at home!
Other things to note
Dartmouth is a small, very old town that wasn't really designed for lots of cars. Our road is one of the oldest roads in town; it is very narrow, with a width restriction of 6 feet and one way! Whilst on the plus side, this makes it extremely quiet, on the negative side there is no parking at our cottage, but it is possible to drop your bags off at the house, provided your vehicle isn't wider than 6ft!!
There is a paying car park opposite the M&S food hall and limited free parking in the town centre, with more spaces becoming available after 5pm.
During the busy summer months, we recommend you use the Park and Ride bus service at the top of the town, with buses running regularly every 10 minutes.
Please also note that we have two Siamese cats who travel down with us when we're at the cottage, so whilst the cottage will be scrupulously cleaned between visits, if you have cat allergies, it may not be suitable.
- Any loss or breakages will be charged.
- No outdoor shoes in bedrooms please.
- We hope that you will enjoy Holly Cottage as much as we do, all we ask is that you leave it as you find it.
Check in from 3pm onwards and check out by 10am
