Our guest house is a remodeled barn adjacent to our home but entirely separate. A "magical" bedroom upstairs, for kids of all ages. Fireplace downstairs, with living & dining areas, bathroom with shower. Minor cooking: fridge, micro wave, etc. Gas grill and fire pit. A canoe, flat bottomed boat. Bring binocs if you are a birder.

Best part: it is entirely secluded with 25 acres of forested land surrounding it AND it is directly on Lake Champlain with easy small boat access. Kayaks welcome.

The space

A PERFECT WRITERS RETREAT, WITH OUR NESTING OSPREYS FOR COMPANY. We are the southern most house on the Lake in Vermont and look directly into the Adirondacks. Please note that the "second " bedroom is the living room downstairs with a very comfortable sofa bed.

We have hiking trails on the property, and a small secret waterfall.

Guest access

You will have access to the entire property. Hike up into the woods onto the ridge; explore the gardens; get out on the lake. I have a canoe for your use.

Other things to note

For the truly adventurous, you or your additional guests can stay in the summer shed. Vamping ! Enclosed screened in bedroom: no running water or electricity but solar powered.

A wonderfully secluded, peaceful place giving beautiful views, paddling and international trainspotting opportunities across Lake Champlain.

This is such a lovely spot and Cynthia and Steve were kind and generous hosts. Being right by the lake where eagles were hunting was awesome to see, and the beautiful sun set behind the mountains was such a treat. Thank you!

Staying at Cynthia's home was Truly amazing. We couldn't have gotten a host anymore perfect, she is very sweet and provided us with snacks, a canoe to explore the beautiful lake, and (because it was my birthday) cupcakes! The scenery is absolutely gorgeous and the amazing amount of stars are breathe taking. It is a true getaway from everyday life and I high recommend to anyone.

We had such a great stay here. We took our boat up the Champlain Canal and met Cynthia on their cove. The guest house was perfect and we enjoyed every minute of our visit there. All the details of the house are amazing, as is the view, and the peace and quiet. And there is even a waterfall! We can't recommend The Last House on the Lake enough.

So much to say about my stay at Cynthia and Steves place in Vermont. This was my first vacation in a long time and I couldnt have wished for a better place to spend with my girlfriend. Obviously, the views were specactuclar, grandiose mountain ranges coupled with the tranquil flow of the lake already made this worth the trip. However, it keeps getting better. The house/renovated barn that we stayed was well decorated and exceptionally cozy: a plentiful supply of comfortable blankets and sheets that smelt so good they must have even raised Mr. Clean's eye brows ha! Beyond this, Cynthia and her husband Steves hospitality really made us feel as if we were family friends. The fridge was suprisngly stocked with some beverages and yogurt, as well as fresh fruits, vegetables and eggs which they had gotten at the Farmers market for us! Aside from that, they were genuinely friendly and caring people, and I really hope we can make it back again!

The lake was impressive and very quiet. The lodging was very charming and a pretty recent renovation. A daytime arrival would be recommended.

Response from Cynthia:
Thank you for your visit, short as it was. This place is not really meant as an overnight stop; there is too much to enjoy !
