This makes it a great location for a peaceful and relaxed stay, whilst enabling guests easy access to the town centre. We are also a short drive from a number of great places to visit. Surrounded by countryside and scenic views, the area is steeped in history. Donamon Castle (only a short walk from OPAL) is one of the oldest inhabited castles in Europe, built in the 12th century and now home to the Divine Word Mission. You are welcome to wander around the grounds free of charge. The River Suck is also located nearby and is a great place to picnic or go fishing.

I live with my partner in a rural part of Ireland (Donamon near Roscommon town) and also in Yorkshire, England. I travel between Ireland and the UK as part of work. I say 'work' but I feel it is part of a lifestyle choice. I work as a cognitive psychotherapist specialising in Mindfulness. As well as working with individuals, I run events around Ireland & the UK.
Our property in Donamon was the old village dance hall, shop and house. We have converted this into a small holistic centre where people can come on personal retreat or a relaxing break. It is designed as a place of tranquility and calm. This creates a perfect opportunity to escape from the business and stress of modern day life and spend time in just 'Being'. I also run some workshops and events there.
We grow our own fruit & veg and are fortunate to have lovely neighbours who have hens, so we share our produce with each other.
I also create a range of art (painting, sculpting, etc.) and write. I find both very therapeutic to living mindfully and staying connected to the present moment.
One of my other passions is I love to cook (and my partner loves to bake).
I enjoy time in nature and also like to socialise with others.
When I travel, I aim to 'experience the journey' rather than focus on getting to the destination. So, my mode of travel tends not to be hurried or rushed.
As a 'guest' I aim to be respectful of the host and their environment. I am friendly, flexible and quiet.
As a 'host' I want to respect guests personal space and privacy, allowing them the freedom to come and go as they please and enjoy their stay. I am also happy to interact with guests if they wish. My aim is for guests to have a pleasant and enjoyable experience.
I suppose if I tried to sum myself up in one sentance it would be that I aim to 'live in harmony with life, whatever life brings' (although my aim is not always right on target).
