The ZzzzMoose Camping Cabins

Overlooking the ocean, the ZzzzMoose boasts insulated wooden Cabins (3) with a shaded deck and picnic table. The Dancing Moose Cafe serving breakfast, lunch and baked goods is located next door. The property has a accessible (Rocky) beach, great for a campfire in the evening.

Uniquely built, all the units are equipped with high-end wood finishing and vinyl-covered mattresses. (1 double 2 single) They include a private 3-piece bathroom situated outside of the Camping Cabin in a separate comfort station. The Comfort station is within 30 meters (90ft) off each cabin. Pillows are provided for each guest.

" We encourage guests to bring there own bedding or sleeping bag but we can also supply you with a linen / bedding package. (sheets, pillow case, towel, facecloth and comforter)
Price for the linen is $6.50 for a double bed / stay and $5.00 for a single mattress / stay."

The ZzzzMoose Camping Cabins are located on the North Shore of Cape Breton Island, 8 km south of Cape Smokey, between the Cape Breton Highlands National Park (25 km) and the town of Baddeck (65 km) on the Bras d'Or Lakes.

The North Shore, originally settled by Scots in the early 1800s, is now home to lots of moose, a crab and lobster fishery (May - July), as well as many fine artisans and crafters.

From the deck of the cabin you might see whales and seals, for sure ocean birds, and 'our' Bald Eagle who does a 'fly-by' a couple of times a day. Walk to our rocky pebble beach and enjoy the beautiful view and sometimes-loud silence of the waves hitting the pebbles.

There are lots of hiking and snowshoeing trails in and outside the National Park, and if you like golf... Highland Links is a beautiful 25-minute drive away.

We are an all-season accommodation!

Guest access

The Guests have access to our private (rock) beach. A perfect place to make a small camp fire in the evenings.
And off course access to The Dancing Moose cafe where we serve breakfast & lunch, home baked treats and on request we can provide simple but good evening meals.

Other things to note

The basic rate for the Cabins is $70.00 but we have to charge HST 15% that makes the total for 1 night, up to 4 people $80.50.

The Cabins are fully insulated and there is a small electrical stove in them that makes them nice an comfortable, even in harsh winter conditions.

On the property we have free range chickens (10... ish) that might come over for a visit and two cats who love to interact with our guests.

This was the highlight of our trip to Cape Breton Island. The cabins are so cute & cozy. Close to the Cabot Trail yet tucked away just enough into the woods to appreciate the camping experience. Although we stayed in November, the private deck and picnic table is perfect to enjoy coffee, drinks and meals while bundled up. We very much enjoyed the company of their very friendly cat, who followed us all the way down to the beach to hang out! The private rocky beach is gorgeous, just a short walk from the cabins. We had a perfect night for a bonfire in the beach, full moon and all. Firewood was conviently available for purchase onsite for 5$ a bundle. We also packed a picnic breakfast and ate on the beach - the sunrise was spectacular! The comfort stations or washroom/shower rooms were a bit chilly, but nice and clean! The mattresses are also comfortable. We wish we could have stayed longer. We have already recommended this beautiful place to others and look forward to returning in the very near future!

Staying in one of these cute, comfortable, cosy and warm cabins, is incredible. Ton is an amazing host, accompanied by his two assistants, the cats, make your stay even better. He serves the best dutch pancakes that you will ever have in Atlantic Canada, also it's location is super convenient, right on the cabot trail. Within 20 minutes you will drive the most beautiful routes with incredible views. Although this was the last weekend that everything was open, we had a lot of fun here. Whenever we have time to come back to Cape Breton, this will be our home away from home! Not a single bad thing to say about this host. Thanks Ton!

The dutch crepes at the cafe were awesome! Good spot to crash while exploring the Cabot Trail, close to the ocean and can hear the waves crashing on the beach while sleeping.

This was a highlight of our tour around Nova Scotia. The cabins are really spacious and comfortable and really warm through the cold Fall nights. The cabins each have their own toilet and shower in a block a few metres away from the cabins. The cabin is also just a short walk from the beach where you can watch the sunrise in the morning before grabbing a delicious coffee and breakfast at the cafe! Ton was very welcoming and easy to talk to, we would have loved to stay longer!

Everything about the cabin was great, was nice and warm and very close to the showers/restrooms. Breakfast at the cafe was perfect. We’d love to visit again.

Interaction with guests

The ZzzzMoose Camping Cabins are part off and on the property of the Dancing Moose Cafe (3.7 acres with (rock) beach access). We the owners live under the Cafe and are "part of the property". The Cabins are build in a way that they have the most possible privacy.
We love to interact with our guests but that is totally up to the guests themselves.
