In town this holiday season for a Longwood Christmas, the Yuletide Tour at Winterthur, or Holidays at Hagley? Offering a cozy private 2nd floor bedroom in an 1800’s millworker’s home located in Historic Henry Clay Mill Village. Within walking distance of Hagley Museum and the DuPont Experimental Station, and just a few miles to all Brandywine Valley attractions. Just 30 minutes to Philadelphia via I-95. An ideal resting spot for couples, the solo explorer or business traveler.

The space

The house is one of several built in the 1800's for the workers at the Henry Clay Mill, located just across the Brandywine River at the end of the street. The house sits on a hill that backs up to the beautiful, wooded Rockford Park, perfect for picnics or morning power walks. The private bedroom has a comfy double bed and is equipped with a Keurig coffee maker. Bathroom is shared.

Guest access

There is no TV in the bedroom, but guests are free to use the TV (Comcast Cable, Apple TV) in the 2nd floor den (hard core Yankee fans may find this room a bit disconcerting). Guests are also free to relax in the 1st floor living room, or on one of two verandas after a day of sight-seeing. A light breakfast will be available each morning in the dining room. There is no kitchen access at this time.

Interaction with guests

I am a full-time professional in the legal field and long-time Wilmington resident, looking forward to hosting visitors to the beautiful Brandywine Valley. I'll be happy to answer any questions or offer suggestions, but will also respect your space and privacy.

Other things to note

A light breakfast (bagels/muffins, yogurt, and fruit) is offered each morning. Please feel free to let me know your preferences.
The house sits on a hill, so there are stairs - lots of them!
And I also have 2 sweet, friendly kittens who have run of the house (but not the guest room) and love to play.

This was a quiet, comfortable place to stay with excellent service and hospitality. It was my first time reserving just a room- we usually get a whole house or apartment. I would definitely stay at Linda‘s again.

Wonderful in every way. Linda is a welcoming host who has thoughtfully set up the room in anticipation of your every need. The light breakfast in the morning is just right to start your day, and a casual dinner can be had nearby in Trolley Square. If you enjoy history, you will be intrigued by Linda’s millworker’s home which is comfortably decorated and beautifully kept. And if you plan to visit the historical sites along the Brandywine River, her location cannot be beat. Thank you, Linda--I would love to return again someday.

Linda's house is exceptionally clean and welcoming. The bed was comfortable, there were plenty of travel amenities - lots of thoughtful touches in case you forgot your toothbrush or really needed a bottle of water in the middle of the night. The bathroom was clean and bright and big. We were attending a wedding at the Hagley Museum and this was a perfect place to spend the night and then check out local coffee shop Brew Haha for breakfast (a great recommendation from Linda - even tho she also provides a nice breakfast spread to guests). Easy to get to, easy to park, and easy to rest. Thank you!

What a wonderful location, nestled between Rockford Park and close by the Brandywine River. Her house is conveniently located to so many places in Wilmington and close by Pennsylvania. Linda is a gracious host and has a lovely home. I will be back to visit. A real treat to have found her airbnb.

Linda was a fantastic host! She was thoughful, respectful, accomodating, and gracious. She also keeps lovely home. I enjoyed the visual touches of her decor and found it to be absolutely adorable. From her local knowledge to the delightful morning set up, there was nothing lacking on my stay. She clearly works to please her guests, and I would not hesitate recommending a stay with Linda.

Linda's place has exquisite style: a nicely renovated older home, immaculate and decorated with good taste that combines references to historic Delaware with her Cape Cod roots. The perfect stay for a traveler interested in the historic museums and other delights of the region. Linda is kind and hospitable, thinks of every detail, and I cannot recommend her home too highly!
