Pros: Incredible host. Patrícia was waiting for us at the apartment when we arrived and gave us a thorough guide to where we should go in the beautiful city of Porto. Apartment was super clean, with a lovely rain-shower. The view from the small balcony was beautiful and the location couldn't be any better, being 5-10 minutes walk from all the major sights! You also get 2 small bottles of Port wine and some treats on arrival. Cons: The mattress is a little old and uncomfortable. Not awful, but needs to be changed soon. Not wheelchair accessible. Not a problem for us, but the apartment is on the 3rd floor. Small -- (not a problem for a short stay) A fantastic apartment for a short stay in Porto. I would highly recommend.
Eduardo's place was in a very central location in Porto. Close enough to the river front and several of the major streets with restaurants and tourist sites nearby. Check-in was very easy and quick. Our train was running a bit late so we arrived later than we had expected, but we were able to message Eduardo to let him know we’d be late. He got right back to us and let us know that Ester would be there waiting for us when we arrived. Sure enough she was right outside when we got to the apartment and helped us take our bags up to the room. She gave us a quick tour and answered all of our questions. She even confirmed our taxi arrangements for when we had to leave Porto. The apartment itself was a little smaller than we had expected based on the pictures. Fortunately we did not spend very much time in the apartment during our stay, but even for two people there wasn't much space to move about. The only real negative we had was the bed itself. The mattress was very soft and you could tell it was somewhat old, which did not make for the most comfortable night's sleep. Also, it's worth noting that the apartment is on the third floor and the stairs are very uneven height-wise, which made walking up and down the stairs with luggage rather challenging. Overall, we really enjoyed our time in Porto and Eduardo's place met our needs.
This place was a terrific stay. We didn't get to meet Eduardo or Patricia, but their friend Phillip was there to check us in and explain the apartment to us. It is centrally located in the hillsides of Porto, and has a fantastic view from the balcony of the city. It's very close to the riverside where most of the tourists hang out, but also close to many of the churches and historical sites, and most important, the many delicious restaurants in town! We were able to get to most places on foot. The apartment was cozy, very clean. There were some welcome snacks and tiny wine bottles as well :-) There was some expected street noise, but nothing terrible, and nothing that kept us up at night. The shower feels great and the bathroom is renovated. The hosts were communicative and kind, and I highly recommend them any of their properties!
