Guest access

Home is a beautiful mid-century duplex with a solid block wall between for complete privacy. There has not been one noise complaint even with late loud movie watching. There is covered parking on each side with private entrance. The side door through laundry room on each home - leads into a separate fenced yard. I will be available to give key in most cases.

Interaction with guests

This is why I love Airbnb! I have had so many perfect trips because the hosts guided me to the best local places, secret spots and hidden gems. I have a chalkboard with all of the BEST places. Generally, I am always available via text if you have any questions about the home, the area, etc. Do not hesitate to ask :) I love socializing with my guests when time allows me - I am often very busy with work. Also, I would love to get together and talk about travels and your time here - just reach out and we can plan a breakfast or lunch! If you are moving to the area or thinking about it and let me know ahead of time, we can make an appt to tour homes in areas that will be suitable for you and your family.

Other things to note

Make sure to sign the Guestbook - I love all the little notes, they make me happy! I have a French press and a kettle, as well as an assortment of teas and coffee for all of you coffee and tea lovers. There will always be some shampoo, conditioner and soap just in case you forgot to bring your own. There are two bicycles for guests to use as long as you care for them and lock them up when you stop somewhere.

Communication with Katy was not the best, once I paid. She was hard to get a hold of or late to respond. I had to contact her to find out how to get into the house, which was a bit worrying on my end, as it was the day before my arrival and she hadn’t responded to my emails or texts. The house was as pictured. It was perfect for our week trip. However, there were lots of ants in the kitchen, dirty, corroded utensils, the one tiny pot - the kitchen cooking amenities were a bit sparse. The bathroom towels needed to be washed again, as they were damp and were giving off a smell. The mattress in the main room is NOT a Tempurpedic, that was disappointing, to say the least. Though we were able to get done, what we needed to, on this trip...I felt Katy wasn’t as involved in hosting as much as I’ve experienced with previous Airbnb hosts. Can’t win ‘em all, I suppose.

Response from Katy:
I am going to assume that this response is a reaction to seeing that I had written a review for her, and because she left my place so filthy with every single plate, bowl, utensil, pot, pan, coffee mug and cup dirty thought that I probably left her a bad review... well, I didn’t. I still left a kind review and now wish I hadn’t been so kind. I sent her plenty of message through the Airbnb app which I am guessing she doesn’t have installed on her phone and possibly did not receive. That is what I use to communicate. She didn’t respond, so I assumed she just wanted her privacy. I get the place sprayed with organic pesticides every quarter and it was just sprayed a week before she arrived and I checked the place before the cleaning women cane before and after her stay and do not see an ant in sight. There are 7 pans, two pots, a toaster, a coffee maker, measuring cups, measuring spoons, a tea kettle, muffin pan, two cookie sheets, three large mixing bowls, a roasting pan, a strainer, two casserole dishes, three cutting boards, two serving trays, a pancake griddle, a waffle maker, wine glasses, martini glasses, tea cups, coffee mugs, regular cups, a snifter, three month old set of cuisinart chef knives, big plates, small plates, big bowls, small bowls, cooking spray, some seasonings, tea bags, silverware and every utensil you can think of... so please tell me how the kitchen is sparse... I went through and saw ONE dirty utensil that another guest probably ran through the dishwasher that had a little food on it that they probably - like a normal clean guest - at least ran through the dishwasher and put away in the drawer. That is not an excuse to leave a nasty review. Shame on you. I can’t be involved if you don’t respond to my messages. Every time I came by the home all of the blinds were closed and lights off. So, I am not going to intrude. Please read other reviews, as this was onvisouoy left out of spite for thinking I left her a bad review when I left a 5 star review. Michelle, maybe don’t always think the worst of people. Have a nice day.

We ended up being in unit 2005 which worked out perfectly. Katy was an amazing hostess with many suggestions for things to do in the area. The kitchen, bathroom and laundry room were well stocked with all the essentials. My kids, our dog and I had a great time saying in her sunny airy bungalow in a quiet neighborhood. It was close enough to everything we needed without all the hustle and bustle and noisy of the busier areas right near the beach.

Katy's place is great. We were at her place in July. Super hot. The covered parking was extra great. We had neighbors for just about our entire stay. Everyone was so nice and there was never a problem with noise or intrusions. I was a little worried about that, actually. Her place is also very well constructed. Keeps it well insulated and acoustically, very peaceful. Thanks Katy!

Our young family of five had a wonderful stay in Sarasota in large part because of Katy. It was our first time in the area, and the splendor of Sarasota's beaches (and sunsets) did not disappoint. I am a west coast, Southern California girl but I was still enamored by Lido and Siesta beach. The accommodations were excellent and Katy's insight of the area was truly priceless! Katy's mid-century bungalow is lovely and exactly as pictured. It's a small home with an open floor plan that felt comfortable and roomy for a family of five, with children ages 2, 6, and 17. Our stay was for six nights and we were quite happy. Katy's place is well decorated, updated, and has everything you need to make yourself at home. The property is centrally located to restaurants, shops, and grocery stores, and is situated on a safe and quiet street, just a few minutes driving distance from the beach. Katy was a great communicator from the start, very responsive, and she graciously granted our request for a late check-out, as well as fielding my many questions during the pre-confirmation of the rental. Locals always know best and Katy's recommendations were pure gold! Memories were made during our family vacation that would have been impossible without Katy's input. For that, we are SO GRATEFUL. We hope to return to Sarasota again one day, and we would be more than happy to rent from Katy again. Katy is an amazing host and we are incredibly thankful that she shared her home and personal recommendations with our family. Our vacation would not have been the same without her! I cannot say enough good things about our stay or Katy! Highly recommend!!
