Staying at Valerie's cottage for the thanksgiving weekend was a wonderful experience. Between Beth and Valerie there was excellent communication, all my inquires and questions were answered in a timely manner. The cottage itself has a beautiful view from the dock and a cozy fireplace to kick back and relax after a day of outdoor activities. Further to the beautiful scenery and the comfortable accommodation the neighbours were warm and friendly, we were also graciously offered to borrow a canoe by Beth. By the end we felt spoiled. I will recommend Valerie's place to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway

The cottage on Balsam Lake was exactly what we had hoped for, even more. Being situated on one of the Trent system lakes, there is a fair amount of boat traffic on the weekend, but the boats are quite a distance away from our side of the lake. Balsam Lake itself is exceptional. During our stay, it was often dead calm. We enjoyed swimming off the dock every day, and canoeing to the local marina in Rosedale for ice-cream. This a great property, and well located, 15 minutes to town. The cottage is well laid out, with the bedrooms protected from the noise of the kitchen by a great stone fireplace (more about that later). Sleeping in the bunky was a delight, especially while listening to rain on the roof. The kitchen was well-equipped, and not just to make simple dishes. There is a screened-in morning room on one side of the cottage, and a nice patio on the other side, to watch the lake, and the spectacular sunsets. The jewel in the crown was the stone fireplace, which we used every evening, after star-gazing on the dock. There was a generous amount of firewood provided to us. And generous sums up our host, Beth, who was very responsive to our messages, and graciously offered extra items not listed. All in all, a wonderful experience, everything as promised, everything neat, clean and in working order. I would love to come back.
