Where you’ll be

Lampedusa e Linosa, Italy

Linosa belongs to the Arcipelago of Pelagie. Linosa is 5,4 Kmq long and whereas it is much smaller than Lampedusa, it is just as beautiful. The landscape is mainly made up of volcanic rocks, but it is criss crossed by small and beautiful pathways from where it is possible to admire the island’s beauty. Linosa has a wonderful sea rich in splendid seabeds. It’s one of the favourite sites for those who practice snorkelling and diving. The island supports shearwaters and turtles "Caretta Caretta", which are both a dying species. A large part of the island is a special protection area. On Linosa you can enjoy both sea and trekking activities. As a matter of fact the island is dominated by three inactive Vulcans: Monte Nero (107 m) which looks over the bay of Pozzolana di Ponente, where the turtles deposit their eggs, which is characterized by a riot of colours, yellow from the sulphur, black from the lave and grey from the tuff. Monte Rosso (187 m) is covered by pieces of land cultivated by the local farmers and offers a splendid view on Mannarazza, where Casa Nanda is located. The last Vulcan, Monte Vulcano is the highest one and looks at Cala Pozzolana di Levante. Since 1985, when the ferryboat was finally able to moor the Scalo Vecchio dock, tourism has developed more and more offering holidays far from the crowd of the other tourist places but with all the comforts and required services. On Linosa you will find some bars, restaurants and pizzerias, a fruit and vegetable shop, a bakery, a fish shop and three supermarkets. In addition there are some souvenir shops, as well as motorcycle and bike rental shops. There is also a chemist's and a first-aid station, a cigar store, a municipal office, a church, a police station and a post office. On Linosa you won’t find any banks or cash machines. Credit cards and switch cards are only accepted by the Siremar ticket office and some restaurants. On Linosa you will find two diving centres that offer underwater tours, diving lessons, oxygen reloading and diving equipment rental.

My name is Arianna and I'm the proud mom of Mahider, a beatiful little girl coming from Ethiopia.I like reading, travelling, swimming, but most of all I love life! My first journey to Linosa was in April 1994 and it was love at first sight! Every year I used to spend my holidays in Linosa in different periods of the year, from May to October, more and more getting in love with its peace, colours and uncontaminated nature. Every time I stay in Linosa, even after so many years, during my long walks or swims, I can still find a piece of land or a small bay to be explored and I always get surprised by Linosa's extraordinary beauty.
